All-around likable guy/astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson certainly knows how to take a joke: with copious amounts of laughter.
On a recent podcast in which Tyson was narrowing down the most scientifically-accurate super hero (because that’s what astrophysicists do in their spare time), Tyson’s co-host, comedian and radio personality Chuck Nice, makes an all-too-familiar string of cracks at the true nature of Batman and Robin’s relationship.
Perhaps its Nice’s delivery, or maybe Tyson was just feeling giggly that day, but the noted scientist can’t get enough of it.

As a researcher and science geek, I’ve always admired him as a science educator and popularizer. Now I like him even more as a person. He not only took Chuck Nice’s gay comment with [very] good humor, but he took it further, showing his knowledge of gay popular culture. I’ve worked with many scientists, including physicists, and I don’t think many would remember the Tinky Winky rumors. Tyson proves one of my favorite arguments against homophobes — that studies repeatedly show that the more educated one is, the less homophobic one tends to be.

Neil deGrasse Tyson Is & has always been a pretty cool guy. Smart as hell, & gifted in his ability to connect with the everyday moron on the street, & his passion about space & all it’s wonders is contagious !
