New Gay Radio Station

Well, it's hard to know we'll like something before we get our hands on it, but Gay Radio UK, a new radio station focused at, uh, gays, is two weeks away from launch. Blargh! Now we have to figure out a way to listen to Derek & Romaine and Michelangelo Signorile on Sirius XM at the same time. Launches May 18. [Gay Radio UK]

Toronto Ontario has had a wonderful Gay Radio station for a while now, called 103.9 PROUD FM.

We've have a "Pride" Radio station in Albuquerque for at least two years now. KABQ-HD2 – Pride Radio 104.7 FM Bosque Farms, NM.
Yep, we can't get civil unions approved in NM but we've got the gay radio station as a consolation prize, LOL.

Gaydar Radio out of the U.K. is fantastic. Easily available over the Internet and via iTunes Radio.

Wouldn't it be smarter to have a regular radio station with more programming on homosexual topics (like politics, religion, etc)? This looks like it's segregating itself – not a progressive move. This looks unwelcoming for anyone who is not homosexual and by the looks of that logo, pretty cheesy, stereotypical stuff that turns most people off. I don't like this idea at all.

The gay radio I've listened to is horrible. It's usually got lisping announcers and mindless dance music mush. Is this the best we can do? Honestly, it's enough to make one want to slash one's wrists.

What we need to do as a community is to get mainstream radio to be more gay-friendly. Creating "gay radio" – and thus segregating ourselves from the mainstream – is ultimately counter-productive to the understanding of our sexuality.

In answer to Jake I agree 100% and we are going to talk about topics of the day that concern the Gay Community, not just robot DJs playing tunes go satisfy their egos.

We will have a Skype as well as regular phone in number to get opinions.

We are starting small and hope to build.

As for the logo, yeah you are right but we did want something that said what it was.

Hope you will give us a try at 9pm BST 8pm GMT

All the best

Graham

My name is Conan R H Dunham songwriter/singer known best for my 1979 album
“Tell Ol’ Anita”. There are multiple pages on Google about myself and the album mostly referring to me as supposedly dead. I am very much alive at least from the waist up and have a new rock and roll album “Conan’s Back” which I will be mailing out copies in the next 10 days. I would very much appreciate any support I might be afforded from your station and I need your mailing address if you would like a copy. My biography is listed on my web page on my web site (I will spell it carefully as blockers will delete it any other way.
