“The New Mexico Senate has rejected a bill creating domestic partnerships in New Mexico. The bill failed when 17 members voted for it and 25 members voted against it. The bill would have given certain gay or straight couples the ability to file as domestic partners and have many of the rights of married couples. The measure had the support of Gov. Bill Richardson, who asked lawmakers several years ago to enact it.” [AP]
