"The New Mexico Senate has rejected a bill creating domestic partnerships in New Mexico. The bill failed when 17 members voted for it and 25 members voted against it. The bill would have given certain gay or straight couples the ability to file as domestic partners and have many of the rights of married couples. The measure had the support of Gov. Bill Richardson, who asked lawmakers several years ago to enact it." [AP]

Well unfortunately Richardson has little political capital left.
All week in the Santa Fe New Mexican reports were that the vote was going to be REALLY close. Jerks.
Not so much *stays* hateful. Rather, I think we got some hate imported from places like Utah.
