NEWS: Soap Star & Rapper Come Out, Congressman’s Lovers Surface, PETA Bites NC And More

Soap star Joanna Johnson, who currently plays a lesbian on The Bold and the Beautiful, has come out herself. She and her partner have been married since 2008 and are raising two children together. “I was so worried I wouldn’t be employable as an actress if people knew I was a lesbian. Or that I wouldn’t be believable in romance stories. I had to deal with a lot of self-loathing.” [TV Guide]

PETA honcho Dan Matthews and his man Jack Ryan gave Amendment One the finger by locking lips atop the sign for the North Carolina Republican Party headquarters. “We were in town with The B-52s, who made an equality plea from stage, but we decided to bring the message to the streets. Our first thought was “we aren’t gonna take this lying down!”  [Towleroad]

Classy businessman Donald Trump lashed out at Cher for tweeting her unhappiness with Mitt Romney. “I understand Cher, and Cher is somewhat of a loser. She’s lonely, she’s unhappy, she’s very miserable, and her sound-enhanced and computer-enhanced music doesn’t do it for me, believe me,”  he told Greta Van Susteren. [Fox News]

Two men who claim to have had sexual relationships with straight-identified former Congressman Jim McCrery (R-LA) are attending a screening of the documentary Outrage, which profiles closeted politicians who fought against LGBT rights.  While in office from 1988 to 2009, McCrery voted to ban gay adoptions in DC, against same-sex marriage and in favor of defining marriage as between one man and one woman. The group People Acting for Change and Equality (PACE) will host the screening on May 23 in Shreveport. [PACE]

Speaking of coming out, Black Jewish hip-hopper Y-Love (a.ka. Yitz Jordan) has revealed he’s gay on Out.com.  His new single “Focus on the Flair.” is out this week. “My number one priority is to get back into dating. I’m ready to find a husband… I’ll be able to have a dating profile and use my real name. I’m ready to live without fear.” [Out]
