Yeah, man. I think there are [gay players] right now, and if they’re looking for a window to just come out, I mean, now is the window. My view on it is, yes, I am a Christian, but to each his own. You do what you want to do. If some Christians want to look at being gay as a sin, then thinking about other women, committing adultery—or any of those other sins that are in the Bible—those are sins, too. And God looks at all of us the same way.”
— An outtake from Washington Redskins quarterback, devout Christian and noted hottie Robert Griffin III (aka RG3)’s cover story with GQ.

it would be nice if queerty would follow the lead of the dcist, city paper, slate, the new republic, and mother jones and stop using the washington football team’s name. its a racial slur. even the onion gets it.

Good for him, but as a Christian why was he texting semi-nude photos of himself and trying to hook up with a woman on his honeymooon.

@Kangol: Well, he does say God looks at everyone the same, whether you are comitting adultry or being gay, if this is a sin.
The thing with so called christians is that they point to homosexuality as a sin and don’t look at their own sins.

@Kangol: don’t believe you! Where is the link! Lol

This is a nice baby step for RG3, but it be nicer to read, “I am a Christian AND being gay isn’t a sin.”

@upthespunx: 90% of American Indians surveyed across 48 states deem that name to be totally fine. The team name is intended to signify bravery, etc. Should we also disallow “Cowboys” or “Chiefs” or “Eskimos” or “Warriors” or “Wizards” or “Braves”? Each of those, some used by many teams across the USA, would also need to be changed or not spoken of. Eventually PETA would want “Bears” and similar names changed. Of course, Washington State (amongst a few others) won’t even use “man” in any official wording because it could offend women. (Even words like “freshman” and “penmanship” aren’t used anymore because they might offend women).
If the team name is intended to honor or signify positive qualities like bravery or strength AND the vast majority of those who COULD be offended approve of the name… I’m not sure why the entirety of society (including every news organization) should refrain from using these official (and often trademarked) names.
