We never understand how book lovers can object to certain books, as if there’s some sort of caste system, or something. But, of course, things get all topsy-turvy when the topic turns to sex – especially gay sex:
In the wake of a controversial decision to remove books with sexual content from the shelves of the Nampa [Idaho] library – a member of the board has stepped down.
Nampa Mayor Tom Dale says attorney Bruce Skaug submitted his resignation earlier this week- effective July First.
Skaug was one of three board members who voted to remove The Joy of Sex and The Joy of Gay Ssex [sic]* from the shelves, and make them available in the library office instead.
Because heaven forbid a child learn how people have sex?! That would be a disaster.
*That typo is brilliant! Love a good lisp!

That does seem like a rather silly decision. Don’t children have parents to stop them looking at this material, and wouldn’t library staff prevent children from renting these books anyway? :s

And don’t parents find having children prevents them from having sex?

When I was a kid, my first images of gay sex was in a library book. Don’t take that away from the newbies!

Boise proper is pretty open minded, but its suburb of Nampa is all up with The Mormons.

I love how the two guys’ chins interlock in that cover photo. Adorable.
