Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad‘s here in New York this week and, despite protests, popped into Columbia to spread some of his hateful cheer. And, as part of his speech, Ahmadinejad told the jeering audience that gays don’t exist in Iran:
In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. We don’t have that in our country. In Iran, We do not have this phenomenon. I do not know who has told you that we have it.
So, how does he explain those reportedly anti-gay executions? Drug dealers. Right…
Bill Perdue
What’s missing in Iran is the development of a revolutionary movement that will arrest the ayatollahs, their toadies, and the ruling rich, give them a fair trial, and hang them. The long suffering Iranian people revolted and got rid the US sponsored and controlled Shah in teh 70’s, but their revolution was betrayed by the ayatollahs.
Goering and other Nazis were convicted of crimes against humanity. So were the Serb mass murderers. Mugabe, Pinochet (until his death) and a host of other conservative, dictatorial murderers are afraid to travel outside their countries for fear of being arrested.
We can look forward to the day when the criminals like Ahmadinejad, who murders boys who love boys and women who want to be treated as human, and major war criminals like Bush, Cheney, Rice, Powell, Rumsfeld and Gates, responsible for the murder of over 650,000 Iraqis, and Bin Laden, the coward who slaughtered 3,000 civilians are called before the dock of world opinion.
fanboi
They have them. We are everywhere. They are just discreet because they are afraid someone will kill them if anyone finds out?
Dawster
i agree with you Bill. i wonder though… Ahmadinejad is only as strong as the people who put him there. he’s only been in power since 2005, AND… things are a little shaky because he’s become detached from the plight of the Iranian economy and he’s gotten in trouble for it.
Ahmadinejad is only as strong as the pillars that hold him up. BUT DAMN… he’s a nutcase.
to be fair… we as a country allow Bush to travel the world to speak on our behalf… so…
(plus, it’s nice to know that Fred Phelps and Pat Robertson now have a welcoming place to vacation)
doit4urlife
This his disturbing. What a distorted perspective on life.
bangpound
Why should Iran have homosexuals like we have in the U.S.? Is belief in gay identity the only moral option?
wtfnyc
Hmmm, he’s already denied the holocaust, and any involvment in terrorism, so it only makes sense that he denies gays in iran. soon, he’ll deny America exists…
leomoore
We do know that teenage boys were publicly hanged after they were discovered in some sort of sexual situation. When I say teenage, I mean no older than 15. Whether they were actually gay or simply experimenting is irrelevant, they were hanged for homosexuality.
Ahmadinejad is so typical of many religious fundamentalists wherever they reside and whatever religion they identify. Either ignorant from poor education or worse, making a conscious choice to deny knowledge in order to avoid reconciling their mythology with reality. He could not have been elected except for so many votes from the vast poor underclass of Iran which exhibits so much ignorance and superstition.
hisurfer
I agree fully that Ahmadinejad is awful. There’s an interesting article in the NYT today, though, that points out that he doesn’t have much real power – it’s all still in the hands of the ayatollahs. The president of Iran is more of an administrator; he’s not the Commander in Chief, Head of State, or Guardian of the Revolution. NYT articles suggests that the only power he does have comes from his ability to say outrageous things that piss off the west.
The catch I see is, how do you confront him? If we protest and make noise it bolsters him back home. If we remain silent it emboldens those who attack us.
Mikester
I was there, everyone broke out laughing when he said that. He was laughing too, I couldn’t tell if it was because he knew it was a ridiculous statement.
bigsmiles
I hate to break it to you but his translator really screwed him. As a farsi speaker, it was very clear what he really said, he said, “we do not have any execution of gays our country”, the translator missed it, the man has bad luck and cant catch a break.
In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. We don’t have that in our country. In Iran, We do not have this phenomenon. I do not know who has told you that we have it.
He was clearly referring to the phenomenon being execution of gays. Grab a farsi speaker and go over the speach with him/her, what he said was very clear.
Matt
Interesting, bigsmiles, and thanks for the clarification, but I’m not sure the retranslation really helps him — I mean, there are (cited above) documented cases of the execution of homosexuals. They can dress it up as drug-dealing, but that doesn’t really fool anyone. Now, in the interests of trying really hard to be fair, could he have been referring to the “cultural phenomenon” of out, proud homosexuals? Yeah, they probably don’t have that in Iran, since the consequences of a gay pride parade in Tehran are somewhat chilling to think about. If he’s claiming they don’t kill homosexuals, he’s lying. If he’s saying there are no Iranian homosexuals, he’s either ignorant or lying. If he’s saying they don’t have a Gay Community Center down the street from his house, then yeah, that’s probably true — but not really responsive to the question.

I’m really glad at least One Country in the world stand up against those Sodomites. Having sexual relationship with the same species is disgusting. For those you do it and support it are going to feel the Wrath sooner than they think.
Rigato
Wow, The chosenfew. If you don’t like our kind, then get your butt over to Iran. I’m sure the ayatollahs will welcome you, and any other religious pundits you want to drag from America.
And um…The chosenfew…”Having sexual relationship with the same species is disgusting”…?
Are you for beastiality then? Because Iran stones those people to death too. Go take a vacation in one of those battleground cities the US has taken over.
Take Bill O’Reilly, Ann Coulter, Robertson and the Phelps clan with you, would you?
HELLO
The situation relative to Iran is unclear.

SCANDAL! SCANDAL! SCANDAL!
EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!
George W. Bush continuously criminally stalked Margie Schoedinger to the point that she could not get away from it, and she committed suicide in desperation to escape: he murdered her.
“In her suit, Margie Schoedinger states that George W. Bush committed sexual crimes against her, organized harassment and moral pressure on her, her family members and close relatives and friends. As Schoedinger said, she was strongly recommended to keep her mouth shut. . . . Furthermore, she alleges that George Bush ordered to show pressure on her to the point, when she commits suicide” (blog of drizzten).
“One of those ‘very leasts’ [was] George Bush’s personal complicity in the death (murder to be precise) of my friend Margie Schoedinger in September of 2003. Determining the exact whereabouts and contacts of [then] president-elect George Bush on September 21 thru 22, 2003, should be entirely lacking in difficulty” (Leola McConnell—Nevada Progressive Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010).
Leola McConnell is correct: Bush applying pressure (continuously criminally stalking Margie Schoedinger) purposefully to force Schoedinger to commit suicide does in fact constitute murder where it culminated in her death.
BEWARE: If the president of the United States hates one—for whatever reasons—he can continuously criminally stalk one to the point that one cannot get away from it, and one ultimately commits suicide in desperation to escape. He can murder people in this way.
Bush is getting away with his murder of Schoedinger—with no sheriff, prosecutor, or court willing to uphold the rule of law.
Bush’s method of murdering Schoedinger cannot exist in a vacuum: he must have murdered other people in the same way.
Bush should confess, come out with the names of all of the people whom he murdered in the disgusting way he murdered Schoedinger, undergo execution, and accordingly find himself at the intersection where he would be free.
(There are thousands of copies of the information above on the Internet. It exists very extensively in all major search engines. Please feel free to go to any major search engine, type “George W. Bush continuously criminally stalked Margie Schoedinger to the point that she could not get away from it, and she committed suicide in desperation to escape: he murdered her,” hit “Enter,” and find innumerable results.)

@The chosenfew: Is your comment a
joke,The chosenfew?
“having sexual relationship with the same species is disgusting”?
Are you recommending bestiality?
You seem like you’re a one person justification for anti-semitism.
