No Hate In Sean Kennedy Death

seankennedy2-2.jpg
South Carolina sheriff’s investigator Paul Silvaggio testified last week that Stephen Andrew Moller did not attack Sean Kennedy because he was gay.

Through an extensive investigation I found that the defendant did not strike the victim because he was a homosexual. It was only later that he knew the victim was a homosexual.

Kennedy died in May after Moller punched him and Kennedy fell to the ground, sustaining fatal injuries. Moller’s set to stand trial for involuntary manslaughter, but has been released on $25,000 bond. He’s currently living with his mother.

Kennedy’s activist mother, Elke, still describes the crime as murder, but refuses to wallow in despair. She’s set up a foundation to raise awareness about South Carolina’s impotent hate crime laws. Go mama!

It is very possible he did not know the kid was gay. How can you tell anyhow? Sounds to me like you advertise on your forehead?

Chris,

everyone in the area knew because (1) Kennedy was described as an “open homosexual”… not hiding his sexuality in the least, (2) investigators said that Moller yelled a homophobic slur before attacking Moller, (3) OTHER investigators are now saying that Moller didn’t know Kennedy was gay.

and i’m calling BULLSHIT.

the bail was set at $25,000.00, the charges were reduced from murder to manslaughter, and Moller’s family keep going to the press, talking about trying to get their son home for Christmas.

this is a CLEARLY presented incident where NONE of the gay organizations have spoken out about this, organized protests, sent out fliers, used a damn phone tree, or even bothering in the least wit the victim’s family to show that they care.

i’m sure they are way too busy with fund raisers and dinners to concern themselves with a 19 year old gay victim in South Carolina who is getting screwed by the justice system after being killed by a MURDERER.

and as the killer’s bindings get more and more lose, we as a community give our approval and say that it’s okay and understandable.

yes Chris… i’m calling BULLSHIT.

I’ll echo what others said, complete bullshit. There’s a website at http://seanslastwish.com/ that has, among other things, the story of what happened:

“On May 16, 2007, at about 3:45 am, Sean was leaving a local bar in Greenville when a car pulled up beside him, a young man got out of the car, came around the car approached my son and called him fagot and then punched him so hard that it broke his face bones, he fell back and hit the asphalt. This resulted in his brain to be separated from his brain stem and ricochet in his head. Sean never had a chance. Sean’s killer got back into the car and left my son dying there.
A little later he left a message on one of the girl’s phone, who knew Sean saying: “You tell your fagot friend that when he wakes up he owes me $500 for my broken hand”. “

This is complete utter bullshit. Sean was a very dear friend of mine and I can state for a fact that the guy knew Sean was gay for the same reasons that Dawster stated above. Sean was not only ‘openly gay’, he was flaming. He was bubbly, vibrant, a little girly, and unless you’re deaf and blind, he made it very clear exactly who he was.

He is a murderer, and unknown to most, had already been arrested twice for possession of marajuana and once for simple assault. Now his anger management issue has cost friends and family a wonderful person, and he gets off light once again. I wouldn’t wish anything bad on anyone, but I plan on organizing a group to send Christmas Cards to the Mollers’ home, intended and written for Sean as well as sending them to his home to show support for him and his family. Perhaps if they see and read what others are going through this Christmas, they’ll be glad their son is even alive to experience it – in prison or not.
