@Cedric: Yes, by making those statements in public, they can be quoted. If, however, a portion of a quote is used, it is thought to be good practice to use elipses ( . . . ) before and/or after the words quoted.

This has its downside. Ever seen a one-word quote attributed to a movie critic or a publication? I refer to the ones like:

” . . . outstanding.” (Full quote could have been “This movie is far from outstanding.”)

That is the danger with “sound bites.” It is obvious that the full quote is not being used. Both sides of the political spectrum are guilty of this practice.

The end of the ad is somewhat effective, but this is not “whether you like it or not.” I don’t think they’ll see a lot of converts out of this one.

And yes, it’s boring. If they went the hellfire route the internet would’ve loved it too much. That just proves that Maggie Gallagerkin et al didn’t like all that bad attention after all.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this ad is actually far more effective for their evil cause than the “gathering Storm” hilarity…

They’ve retreated to “bashing 101″, by cherry picking sound bites, fear mongering and trying to make themselves the ‘real victim’ in the sitaution…It’s complete crap, but does resonate with their intended audience. We do need a response to this, and this time, parodying it might not work as well…though I’d still love to see a drag queen “Prejean” prancing around in a bikini blathering on about opposite marriage.

Yawn! Oh, it is finished. I fell asleep in between the one minute commercial. Honestly, these people have too much time and a brain lacking in their skull. It is just infuriating how ridiculous their claims are.

I would love to see how they feel if these supporters spouses die and they will have to pay roughly 50% of the estate in taxes because they are unwed. I just want to make sure that one day, if I die, I have the same property rights as a heterosexual married person.

The bigots at NOM obviously got burned when they tried their hand at being creative with the “Gathering Storm”. Now they are retreating back to being boring. The story of who Carrie got her new boobs is frankly more interesting (and I’m definately NOT a boob guy, lol).
