No Shame.

Westboro Baptist Church protested fallen student Lauren Burk’s funeral this weekend. They also protestd murdered UNC student, Eve Carson‘s burial. Both girls were shot by unknown assailants last week. Apparently the WBC nutters think God disapproves of getting murdered. UNC has set up a memorial fund for Caron, which can be found here. As for the WBC, they’re absolutely vile, but we like that they’re equal opportunity trouble makers (read: publicity whores). [OA Now]

Lauren Burk went to my high school and thankfully, the police had the WBC away from the temple where her funeral was held. They were across the street; meanwhile, many of Lauren’s friends and members of the community walked on the lawn of the temple waiving American flags to counter to WBC’s protest. Their signs were extremely offensive (not surprisingly) but they seemed far enough away to not be seen by Lauren’s family.

Haven’t they recently been sued for more than they claim to be worth for doing their hateful pickets?

I agree with Desha. If they picketed any of my family’s funerals, I’d sue them for mental distress, disturbing the peace, defamation, and protesting with the intent to riot.
