Abracadabra! We have another celebrated magician on the gay team. British "illusionist" Derren Brown made headlines this weekend after coming out as a living, breathing homosexual. And, like a good, socially conscious celebrity, urged others to do the same:

Coming out when you are in the public eye is one of those things that isn't an issue to yourself, your friends and your family. But you have to be open and up front.

'You should always come out; life is so much easier. People generally aren't as bothered by your intimate secrets as you are.

Some claim that Brown's admission "shattered" people's "illusions," but the 37-year old says he's received less dramatic reactions: "If anything, I was disappointed to learn that it wasn't much of a surprise. Possibly my penchant for interior decor had given the game away."

Derren Brown came out in The Independent in September last year. The Daily Mail has simply rehashed the story and lifted the quotes directly.

A very attractive man indeed, though.

I don't see the physical attraction, but Derren Brown is a very, very cool person and a lot of people respect him … so it's great that he's gay!

oh for chrissakes
this is old news he 'came out' in september 2007 why the hell is it all being rehashed??

Anyhow I wish Derren well I hope he is very happy in his relationship he deserves to be very happy as he is such a lovely guy!! (I should know having met him 15 times over the years)

It's soo not fair though you gays always get the lovely guys!! All the straight guys (one's I've come across anyway) are all horrible & the kind off guy you wouldn't want to touch with a bargepole!!!

It seems sadly the old saying all the best men are married or gay is very true!!! : (
