Liz Cheney’s attempt to win the Republican nomination for the Senate in Wyoming is apparently coming to a close with nothing to show for it but a rift with her sister.
To the chagrin and anger of lots of Republicans, Cheney had challenged incumbent Mike Enzi by running far to the right in hopes of distracting voters from the fact that she looked an awful lot like a carpetbagger from Virginia.
Undoubtedly the low point of Liz’s campaign was her decision to use opposition to marriage equality to prove her right-wing credentials. That move was a clear slap in the face at sister Mary and her wife Heather. They responded with a public dressing down, pointing out that Liz happily attended their wedding before deciding she hated lesbian nuptials.
Don’t you hate it when family members call you a hypocrite in public? Especially when they’re right.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
About the only good thing to come out the campaign for Liz was the knowledge that she is Dad Dick Cheney’s favorite daughter, who was quick to come to her defense and to note how irritated he was with the attack on her.

What the hell can you expect from the Cheney clan?! Mary’s obviously the only intelligent one, outside of her mother.
TheNewEnergyDude
Karma’s a bitch, ain’t it, Liz?
DShucking
Good, bitch.

@Dakotahgeo:
I would agree with you except for the fact that just a few months ago Mary Cheney and her partner endorsed and donated to not only Mitt Romney but other anti-gay politicians.
Liz’s campaign had been accused of being pro-gay marriage, and she needed to make a big splash to supposedly prove that she was not. Coincidentally, her sister and partner suddenly attack a politician for being anti-gay when just a few months before they had donated to several anti-gay ones? And Mary did this RIGHT at the time that Liz needed to firm up her anti-gay credentials?
This was an orchestrated move by the Cheney family to try to get one of them in office.

Cam is exactly right…. NONE of this was from the hip, it was all done to garner sympathy from the people who really hate us.

I thought Liz was the Lez but I guess it makes more sense for the gay one to be named Mary…I don’t care what anyone says…Gay republican is an Oxymoron heavy on the moron…I have never met a conservative queer that I liked…It represents a form of self hate no matter how they try to sugar coat it.
hephaestion
What a fucked up family.
Idiots.

Was it all worth it Liz? Her poll numbers stayed in the gutter. The voters in Wyoming may like their candidates rabidly anti gay but throwing your sister under the bus was a bit too much.

Liberals, Wyoming Republicans, gay people, and Mary Cheney and Heather Poe, you won’t have the hapless, talentless, raving Liz Cheney to kick around any more!
Now she’ll go back on right-wing welfare, appear on Sunday TV shows spouting nonsense, and benefit from being the spawn of one of our war-criminal cyborg ex-President, er, Vice President.

Should read:

She never had a real shot anyway. She launched a primary challenge against a very popular conservative and faced charges of being a carpet bagger because she moved to Wyoming just in time to establish residence for her potential run. Her campaign was a shambles from the start. The rift with her sister was just icing on the cake of her eventual political demise.

Unfortunately she takes after her father, an unashamedly evil man.

Nice to see there are negative consequences associated with the Cheney name, finally.
