NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo Demands Marriage Vote Before Father’s Day

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is quickly becoming America’s favorite pro-gay marriage advocate (though we love you too, Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin), is supposedly personally “quarterbacking” an effort to get the Empire State on board with the half dozen others that let Gs get M’d. And just how bad does Andy want this to happen? Very. Which is why he’s pushing for a vote in the State Senate in “six to eight weeks, or maybe sooner.” Wowza, that’s a tight timeline! But some 56 percent of New Yorkers have already declared they would back it. Now it’s just a matter of seeing whether the state’s anti-gay corrupt lawmakers will get on board. NB: Also on Cuomo’s 2011 agenda? Stripping funding for NYC’s homeless youth, a disproportionate number of which are LGBT.
