How can you be anti-christ when a christ never existed in the first place?

I consider the bible to be a big book of manufactured fairy tales myself but if there WERE an anti-christ I would be pointing the finger and Bush or Cheney.

I have been watching presidential elections since the beginning of WWII. I do not ever recall them being the religious farces that presidential elections have become over the past 8 years. This is just downright, fucking disgusting.

Unfortunately, this and many of the other lies and distortions being spread by the McCain camp are gaining traction with the low information/low IQ voter. Given Obama and company's "hope and feel good campaign", while McCain throws roundhouse punches and quick jabs that are drawing blood, I can assure you of an Obama defeat in November.

Over the course of the past 2 weeks I have watched Obama's projected EV lead slip from 320 to now just 275. Nationally, Obama/McCain are virtually tied in the polls. Old white voters reliably go to the polls in droves, young voters don't. Youth and enthusiasm is always trumped by age and treachery. Given past experience with voter suppression by Republican operatives and Diebold machines, McCain is assured the Presidency.

Democratic Presidential candidates should never be allowed to vacation until after the election in November. And that campaign "high road" leads to defeat. Americans always respond to dirty campaigns. Obama's August week off will cost him dearly, just as it cost Kerry. Furthermore, as the line defining the differences between the two candidates begins to blur, with people seeing Obama shift away from his "core" ideals (voting to fund the war/FISA/Faith Based Programs/offshore drilling/refusal to pursue Bush criminals/etc)the only thing separating the two candidates is "experience". Obama is right when he said people will go with the devil they know. McCain is solidifying his base, Obama is splintering his.

About 3 months remain before election day. Unless McCain really screws up, Obama will require a miracle to win. I'm an Obama supporter. Why do I feel I'm backing another loser?

For the record, the idea of an anti-Christ and rapture based theology is VERY new in Christianity, historically speaking. The Bible talks of anti-christ as an adjective or a quality, rather than one person who may be Satan.

Tim Lahaye does not speak for all Christians or even for a proper understanding of the Bible. His books are foolish.

Assuming that such a thing as an anti-christ exists, and assuming Obama were that anti-christ, that would just be another reason to vote for him, as far as I can see. We've had Mr. Mega-Ultra-Christian in office for over seven years, and that hasn't been doing too well for any of us, has it? (Assuming of course, there are no oil corporation CEOs reading this site.) Our vicious and hate-filled spokespeople for Christianity will only be happy when they have their version of Taliban implemented in America. And the 'left behind' people can't get raptured the hell outta here soon enough for my tastes.
Sometimes I wish I could believe that there really was such a place as hell where horrible people spend all eternity after they die – it would be comforting whenever I think of Bush or Cheney.

I'm no biblical scholar, but if Tim LaHaye DID read the scripture closely, I'm sure it must have been for the first time.
The "rapture" is not in the bible. It is a nineteenth century fabrication, written by a Doctor of Divinity, in response to the growing concerns of the farmers and working classes who were slowly becoming more literate, and were concerned that in revelations EVERYONE suffers, including the "chosen" ones.
These simple people seemed to think that was unfair, so this pastor published a pretty fairy story, that half a million true believers would be whisked off to Heaven, while all the "bad" people would suffer through the horrors of the Apocalypse.
I can't help thinking it would have been more spiritually mature to suggest that everyone just work together to hold off the Apocalypse, but I guess then as now, a free ticket beats a life's work any time!

I came into this site to read what was written about obama and then saw all the things wrote about how jesus isnt real ? I am so sad for all of you who have chosen to live your lives without him . It is a very dark and lonely life without him . I know because I havent always had god in my life and still struggle sometimes with somethings , but I will say if you have never expierenced the power of the holy ghost you have NO IDEA how real he is . God died for our sins even after we did the things we did to him, and he has sooooo much happiness to offer you and I pray that one day you will allow him to give you peace and happiness because he is waiting beside you everyday for a chance to enter into your heart, and when he does you will see how real he is ! I pray for all of you and hope one day you will change your minds .

I am sick and tired of everyone who Judges Barack Obama just because he’s half black or half white. I’m especially ticked off by everyone who says he supports terrorists by saying he’s a Muslim. His father was a Muslim, his mother was a Christian. Obama goes to a Christian church every Sunday (and correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t we afraid to elect John F. Kennedy because he was a Catholic?). Throughout history some of the Christian leader’s ideas caused war, rebellion, and hatred. In 1095, the Crusades began when Pope urban II said that Jerusalem belonged to the Christian. This was just a way for him to be on Europe’s good side (for back then the Popes were more like politicians). Those who volunteered to become Christian knights were promised to be forgiven of all their sins. On the way to Jerusalem they acted more like murderers. In cities they would kill everyone men, women, and children religion didn’t matter, for they killed Jews, Muslims, and even Christian. In one city, they ate the dead corpses. When they finally came to Jerusalem, they cleansed the streets with the blood of the slaughtered and made the city of Heaven look like Hell on earth. 200 years later a Muslim known as Saladin, who was also the Sultan of Egypt, came and conquered Jerusalem no blood was spilt to cleanse the city, instead, the city was cleansed with rosewater and the people were spared and allowed to leave for, unlike the Christians he wasn’t a butcher. In 1517 Pope Leo X. had just come into power and spent what was in the Vatican treasury on daily boar hunts and nightly feasts (that included cake and little boys) until the treasury was empty. This halted the construction of St. Peters Basilica. So he started having all the churches sell indulgences, which were pieces of paper that said God will forgive all of your sins if you bought one. Naturally many people bought them because they wanted to go to Heaven but Martin Luther, a monk disagreed with the indulgences. He believed that God’s forgiveness doesn’t have a price. So, in response he nailed his famous 95 thesis to the door of the church in Wittenberg Germany. This act caused the people to speak up and say what they thought of the churches action, which led to a rebellion that lasted until 1648.
Just because someone has a different color skin or different religious beliefs doesn’t mean they’re evil. Whether someone’s white, black, red, or yellow (not meaning to sound racist) or whether you’re Jewish, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian (all of the forms like Catholic and Mormon), Wiccan, even Satanism (and any other form of modern religions I forgot to mention) it doesn’t matter. Because on the inside we’re the same we all have lungs, a stomach, a brain, a heart, and we all bleed the same colored blood.
