Obama Celebrates Gay Man’s HIV/AIDS Day By Giving $1.89 Billion To AIDS Programs
What better way to celebrate honor Gay Man’s HIV/AIDS Day than for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to release $1.89 billion in grants through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.
The money, says a HHS rep, will help “ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS continue to have access to lifesaving health care and medications.” Of the total budget, $853 million will go toward replenishing the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), which currently has a wait list of nearly 9,000 people.
Looks like you really can fight HIV in a bad economy!
I guess the combination of it being the start of the presidential election season and the fact the number of people living with HIV/AIDS on ADAP waiting lists now stands at 10,000, so Obama had to get off his ass and do something.
