It’s just freakin’ adorable to watch Barack Obama stump for Senate hopeful and Massachusetts AG Martha Coakley — the key to maintaining the Democrats’ 60-vote supermajority in the Senate — and talk about how awesome she is when, back in October, Obama was telling her to fuck off.
Almost literally.
When Coakley filed a federal challenge to the Defense of Marriage Act, suing the U.S. government for violating the Constitution, Obama’s attorneys at the DoJ responded with a 36-page explanation about how Coakley and the State of Massachusetts can’t force the federal government to recognize gay marriages. Specifically, the Obama administration wrote there is “no fundamental right to marriage-based federal benefit” for same-sex couples.
Now watch as Obama puts his arm around Martha in the hopes that his blessing will score her enough votes tomorrow against nude model Scott Brown.

Sorry John, perhaps you miss the sound of goose-stepping in Europe. We in America are not required to show “loyalty”, subservient, compliance, acquiescence or whatever kind of toadyism you admire, to any cult political figure. Obama is the one who is toxic. He is a weak, ineffectual “leader” (and I use the term “leader” sparingly).
Obama has done nothing to earn the “loyalty” of the millions in the GLBT community who worked hard for his election and who voted for him in huge numbers — which was around 75% of the GLBT voters for Obama. Other than the Black community, what other community has been so consistently pro-Democratic Party? And like a beaten wife who just kisses her own blood off the back of her abuser’s hand, what has it gotten us but more abuse?
It is bullshit for Obama to say that his hands are tied and that he must instruct the DOJ to defend clearly unconstitutional federal laws targeting Gay people when he so cavalierly ignores enforcing federal law against the distribution and use of Marijuana in California (for…ahem…medical purposes), and now in New Jersey. It is a clear violation of federal law when state law presumes to trump federal law. Apparently, when it comes to pot-heads, Obama is A-OK with ignoring federal law.
In view of this, Obama’s “legal ethics”, regarding the upholding of discriminatory anti-gay federal laws, seems a bit askew when it comes to that punching-bag/money-bag constituency, the GLBT community. And he makes no sincere attempt (as the leader of the Democratic Party) to insist that his own party correct that “bitch of an intolerable situation”.
No, Obama is a toxic asshole. And no prophylactic “you think the Republicans would do you better” lame-ass and trite justification for his failures of leadership will ever make him any less of a duplicitous douche bag until he shows some “loyalty” of his own to the very people upon whose backs he rode into office when promised to push Congress to overturn the atrocities of the last lying bastard Democratic President who gave us DADT and DOMA.
We own Obama and the Democratic Party nothing until they do the job we hired them to do. They don’t get a free ride anymore. Loyalty is earned, it is not an entitlement.

That was some comment about toxic American gays having no loyalty to their leader. Well then maybe a little history lesson is in order.
The British in the Colonies were also very loyal to the Crown. But they made some very reasonable demands that were not met. This culminated in the complaint of “no taxation without representation.” They took orders and paid taxes to Parliament, but had no vote or say regarding disputes.
So they said that as a matter of Natural Law, a separation of loyalty was in order. Here is some good reading on the subject of the freedom of men to represented, and the consequences that should flow from a failure to represent:
“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
So please keep your system of undeserved loyalties. Your system delivered British gays something called “Civil Partnerships,” but over here, we want everything everyone else has, and have the balls to demand it, and then make it happen.
