In his Mother’s Day Presidential Proclamation, President Obama gave a shout out to children raised by “two mothers.” That’s sort of nice, that the president, in a first, would toss a jock nod to families where two women are struggling to support their families. It’s also a backhanded compliment to this same group of families from a man who continues to devalue their relationships by not supporting their right to marry. So thanks for the Mother’s Day card, Obama. We’re not going to have the postman issue a Return To Sender, because we’re putting it on the mantle, and we’ll tear a piece off and toss it into the fire below every day that DOMA remains on the books.

No more sugar, its makes us lazy and fat, like the HRC. We want meat, high protein, substance. Give us some real food and we will be powered to go to the midterm polling stations. Shove more high fructose corny crap down our throats and take your chances.

“It’s also a backhanded compliment”
It’s more than we got from the previous administration so cherish it.
Hilarious
If you think one president can come in and change everything all at once then you really have a lot to learn about politics and the government.
He never once said he would change everything. He’s trying to start a pattern of change and progress so that the next president can continue making things better and the next president after that.
It’s a balancing act and he also happens to have every group imaginable shouting “ME FIRST!!” at him.
greenluv1322
Queerty you are retarded.
tjr101
Queerty will most likely be bitching about DOMA during and long after Obama is gone because it’s not going to be overturned anytime soon. Obama can say he’s in favor of repeal and actually campaign on it but it will not pass through this or any congress in the near future. Bitch to the American people about that.
Brutus
Queerty’s Unnecessarily Negative Headline #457
JahovasFitness
LOL–bitter much, queerty? What a pathetic, short-sighted commentary. The author is truly dumb, and so bitter that s/he’s letting “them” win.
fredo777
This seems unnecessarily snarky, despite its basis in truth about Obama’s action on gay issues. Accept a progressive gesture for what it is + call the administration out on their shit in a more relevant topic.
Fuck Queerty
Why must every story about this President be a catty,
snarky, bitch fest!!? This has become really tired and
pathetic! Give the man credit when it’s due and call him
out on bullshit when it’s necessary.
Otherwise, PLEASE stop the negative bullshit!
It’s very GAY of you queerty!
Markie-Mark
There seems to be a lot of Kool-Aid drinkers on here tonight.
Bill Perdue
Please, this is just as important as the invitations to those WH Easter Egg rolls. That is to say, it’s not important at all. It’s just another clumsy attempt by the Bigot in Chief to placate the fury of the LGBT communities for his unending contempt for us.
It seems that it’s major effect was to drive the few remaining Obots and Democrats in our ranks into a frenzy of obsequiousness.
Brutus
Nice try, Bitter Bill, but what had the effect was not the President’s gesture but rather Queerty’s piss-poor attitude about it. Saying a gracious “Thank You” doesn’t mean we have to let up the pressure for real, substantive things—the pressure he asked us to keep on him.
Bill Perdue
@Brutus: I have to coin a new phrase – Obotbootlick. It seems to apply here.
What’s bitter, of course, is not the legitimate rage of the GLBT movement.
What’s bitter is Obama’s sabotage of same sex marriage in California, his being in bed with scum like Rick Warren and Donnie McCulkin, his use of the White House Office for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships to bribe anti-LGBT pulpit pimps, his consistent use of vile christian bigotry to support Bill Clintons DADT and DOMA.
And lets not forget his ugly racist actions against immigrant and imported workers. Or his wars. Or his support for FISA and offshore drilling. Or the fact that he busted the UAW, imposed austerity and is feeding the already obscenely bloated rich trillions of our tax dollars.
Brutus
Explain this “sabotage” of same-sex marriage in California.
Read “The Audacity of Hope,” remind yourself of the politics surrounding health care reform, and you’ll understand why he deals with people like Rick Warren.
There’s nothing wrong with Faith-Based Initiatives and in many communities they’re more effective than other programs.
DADT and DOMA are undesirable but legal policies. The administration is attempting to preserve the government’s authority in these areas by avoiding a court ruling of unconstitutionality. Meanwhile, movement is being made toward legislative repeal.
Immigration and FISA aren’t at issue right here, nor is his perpetuation of Bush’s wars rather than packing it all up immediately, leaving a huge power vacuum in highly sensitive regions. And God forbid we tap our own natural resources while we transition to renewable sources rather than continue to funnel billions of dollars to petty overseas regimes.
Don’t forget that unions can be monopolies too.
I’m guessing that you weren’t a supporter of his in the first place, but that doesn’t mean you need to take every possible opportunity to twist and warp something around so you can once again scream “I TOLD YOU SO!” We just had 8 years of Hell including a slew of same-sex marriage *bans* across the country, and nearly a federal constitutional amendment to that effect, and now we have someone who not only isn’t doing that, but is at least raising our profile and lending some credence to the idea of progress. Yet what do we do? We yell at him even more than we did the hateful bigots who came before. I fail to see how that makes any sense or leads us to productivity.
God bless.
Bill Perdue
Explain this “sabotage” of same-sex marriage in California. Have you been off planet. “gawd’s in the mix” galvanized the bigot vote. Obama is a bigot for opposing same sex marriage on superstitious grounds.
Read “The Audacity of Hope,” remind yourself of the politics surrounding health care reform, and you’ll understand why he deals with people like Rick Warren. Meaningless. Obama betrayed health care reform and his racist refusal of health care for immigrant and imported workers is despicable.
There’s nothing wrong with Faith-Based Initiatives and in many communities they’re more effective than other programs. Everything is wrong with giving taxpayer money to corrupt pulpit pimps to bribe them to support Democrats, just as Rove used FBNP funds to bribe pulpit pimps to support Republicans.
DADT and DOMA are undesirable but legal policies. The administration is attempting to preserve the government’s authority in these areas by avoiding a court ruling of unconstitutionality. Meanwhile, movement is being made toward legislative repeal. Obama is a bigot for supporting Clinton’s bitter legacy – DOMA and DADT.
They’re an issue to tens of millions of voters and your denial is unimportant.
Don’t forget that unions can be monopolies too. Right wing drivel.
That idiocy proves you’re a clueless right winger.
God bless. And a christer nut case?

As you have just seen, Bill Purdue enjoys his own prejudice quite a bit. His posts remind me of the over-the-top diatribes of Jesse Helms.
What people like Bill seem unwilling to understand is that if they celebrate and inflict their prejudice against Christians and other people of faith, they lose all integrity when they complain about the prejudices that anyone else, including homophobes, direct at them.
Every prejudiced person has excuses and justifications for their prejudice, usually the same basic ones that Bill and his anti-Christian friends here use. Like
“those people are a threat to society” and “those people do terrible things” and “those people are sick in the head”
Homophobes use those kinds of excuses. People like Bill who revile Christians use those kinds of excuses. Racists use those kinds of excuses.
Endorsing and promoting one prejudice nourishes all of them, and we as individuals and a society will not be completely free from racism, or homophobia, or sexism, or age-ism, or anti-semitism, or any other prejudice, including Bill’s prejudice against people of faith, while any one prejudice is celebrated.
Every person like Bill who advocates any prejudice, including one against religious people, is delaying the day when GLBTQ people have full equality, when women have full equality, when people of color have full equality, etc.
Brutus
@Bill Perdue: I like how you copied and pasted each segment of my post to make it look as though you were responding to what I said.
Do you live in this country? Take God out of the mix and you’re not going to win national office, period.
I also wasn’t aware that we’ve converted from a democratic republic to a dictatorship. So the President has final say on all legislative matters, like whether we extend health care to noncitizens? Fascinating. Who’s right-wing now?
I don’t see how supporting the government’s *authority* to enact DADT and DOMA—which has nothing to do with and is completely severable from whether the government *should* enact them—makes someone a bigot. Oversupportive of government authority, perhaps.
You’ll note that I didn’t say immigration and FISA aren’t issues at all, but rather merely that they’re not issues *here*, where the topic is LGBT matters.
You don’t think unions can be monopolies? Really? And let me guess, you bemoan the fact that “all the jobs are going overseas.” Basic economics. Things like the forty-hour work week, retirement, unemployment insurance, workman’s compensation, overtime and hazard pay—all those things that unions fight for—make American workers more expensive to employ. At some point it becomes cheaper to relocate the entire operation, especially in the many modern industries that don’t require skilled labor.
But I think the best part is where you merely label my final statement “idiocy” (without explaining why) and then say that it proves that I’m a “right winger” (a pretty laughable statement, if you knew me).
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
Bill Perdue
@Cassandra: is one of the christers who patrol the net to lie. We don’t advocate prejudice against christers and other ignorant victims of superstition, we advocate measures to suppress their hate speech and the violence and murder it directly causes.
Here’s a typical example of the kind of bigotry we can expect from christers, in this case comments from prostitute soliciting, clearly insane pentecostal bigot Jimmy Swaggart, who said “I’m trying to find the correct name for it…this utter absolute, asinine, idiotic stupidity of men marrying men.” Then he added, “I’ve never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry. And I’m gonna be blunt and plain: if one ever looks at me like that, I’m gonna kill him and tell God he died.”
GLBT folks are not the problem. Christer bigots are the problem, and Cassandra lies when she tries to turn the truth on its head.
Oh, and I forgot to ask, Cassandra, can I have your car after the Rupture?
Paschal
@Bill Perdue: President Obama doesn’t support DADT or DOMA. He wants then repealed. While it’s important to keep pressure on Congress and the President, this constant Obama-bashing is tiring. He has already achieved a lot and hopefully will continue to do so. Bashing the current President is a job being done by very right-wing people. Can we at least not partake in such an activity? How about highlighting all the other politicians, especially Republicans, who are anti-gay Queerty? It’s right to highlight the failings of politicians but President Obama really shouldn’t be treated like this.
Bill Perdue
He supports them by not opposinbg them, in real life as opposed to pretending to.
Markie-Mark
Bill Perdue, you are the only person on this blog that makes any sense. I love reading your posts and I find that I agree with you 100%. And I think there are alot of gay people who are finally waking up. I left the Democratic Party and I’m not coming back. I will never vote for a Democrat or Republican again. Where’s the self-respect in voting for someone who’s against gay marriage? My votes and money are going to the Green Party which has had marriage equality in its platform for 20 years.
Bill Perdue
@Markie-Mark: ^^^ Thanks.
Obviously the obots and christers disagree. They continue to spout their christer bigotry and pretend that we’re the bigots.
It seems they learned a thing or two from Goebbels.
Markie-Mark
Obots and christers are a minority in the gay community. It just seems so weird that they have ganged up here to spew their nonsense and overwhelm any attempt at reason. But I have to say that I admire you for attempting to engage those turd-eating retards.
Bill Perdue
@Markie-Mark: I’m not really trying to talk to them, just to describe them accurately. It seems to enrage them.
Markie-Mark
@Bill Perdue: Rock-on. You are the man!

This is just Obama’s attempt to symbolically endear himself to us. It means nothing to me. This shout-out is nothing but a cynical attempt to make sure that we stay on his plantation.
Well, I’ve got news for you, Barry. We in the GLBT community aren’t going to be distracted by maple syrup. We’ve changed since the last time you promised us the world.
Nowadays, we’re smarter, brighter, and less prone to manipulation. Not all of us, of course. Some of us are still tied to the notion that you’re the best thing since sliced bread and Krispy Kreme donuts.
Cassandra
Hey Bill
“Cassandra: is one of the christers who patrol the net to lie.”
If you are going to accuse me of telling lies, have the integrity to back that accusation up with evidence.
“We don’t advocate prejudice against christers and other ignorant victims of superstition, we advocate measures to suppress their hate speech and the violence and murder it directly causes.”
LOL. Bill, your very statement quoted above is an example of extremely abusive prejudice. Dismissing our lives as ‘victims of superstition’ is prejudice. You sound exactly like any homophobe, right down to declaring us all to be a threat to others.
It is also extraordinarily arrogant, like the way homophobes insist that gay couples don’t really love each other, or that homosexuality really is a choice we make, and their other vicious lies about our lives. You are trying to define our lives by your vicious and insecure fantasy, and parading your ego around asserting that your fantasy supersedes our reality because you said so.
Exactly like any homophobe. If you weren’t so committed to your prejudice, I think even you would see how exactly you sound like a homophobe, or a Klansmen, or anti-Semite. Ok, that last one is a gimme – atheism is intrinsically anti-Semitic.
This next bit from you is a classic example of bigotry.
“the kind of bigotry we can expect from christers, in this case comments from prostitute soliciting, clearly insane pentecostal bigot Jimmy Swaggart,”
Homophobes and racists pull this all the time. They pick some particular example, an individual or a group, find some really ugly thing those people do or say, and then declare ‘this is how all homosexuals are’. During the prop 8 campaign, a woman supporter of Prop 8 posted links to extreme S&M gay porn, truly hardcore stuff, and titled it ‘the truth about gay sex’. You do the exact same thing. You are the soul brother of Porno Pete, he sneaks around leather fairs looking for salacious kink to define all GLBTQ people with, you grab salicious quotes from homophobes to define all people of faith with. Your posts are the (presumably) gay equivalent of Fred Phelps rants and raves.
“GLBT folks are not the problem. Christer bigots are the problem, and Cassandra lies when she tries to turn the truth on its head.”
Bigots of any kind, including you Bill, are the problem. Your hate speech and false accusations demonstrate that your morals and ethics are exactly as low as those of any homophobe, from Jesse Helms to Paul Cameron.
Regarding your snarky reference to the rapture, you’ve only demonstrated how prejudiced and ignorant your position is, for that particular belief is not a mainstream Christian belief, has no basis in Christ’s teaching, and is a fairly modern invention.
Of course, that is another example of bigotry – judging an entire group of people by some of them, without any knowledge or respect for the tremendous diversity within the group. Your attempt at humor is like those gerbil jokes that homophobes enjoy so much.
Markie-Mark – the truth is that the majority of GLBTQ people identify as being religious, and in the U.S., that means Christian mostly. The largest GLBTQ organization in the world is a church, the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches.
Name-calling, by the way, is not a persuasive substitute for accuracy, reason, or logic. It is, however, an indicator of an immature argument.
As for the “Rupture” – is that some sock-puppet thing?
Cassandra
“But I think the best part is where you merely label my final statement “idiocy” (without explaining why)”
Above we have a classic example of the cheap tan pumps calling the handbag “beige”.
