It is not about homophobia in this instance but about many poster’s views on violence here. It is ok to attack somebody based on the fact that they don’t approve is his persona or how he presents himself. My point was, how is this different from a homophobe attacking a gay man based on those same criterean? I am not making a statement about Perez Hilton or his personality.
I agree with another poster that one of the most disturbing things about his is Perez’ own internalized homophobia. Call him out on that perhaps.

Violence is never a good thing. That said, I think there is something much more disturbing that came out of all of this.

I am very, very disturbed with what Perez Hilton said to Will.I.Am per Perez’ quote from a news article I read:

“I said ‘You know what, I don’t respect you and you’re gay and stop being such a faggot.’”

Our LGBT youth face anti-gay slurs regularly and repeatedly, such as “that’s so gay” as such, so I fail to understand the good that is done for our LGBT children and teenagers when a prominent gay figure frankly calls someone else as “gay” in a negative manner, as I find what Perez said to be a terrible example in confronting our schools about anti-gay bullying and making our schools safer and more accepting for LGBT children.

I don’t think Perez realizes this, and he would be wise to correct himself publicly in saying that calling someone else “gay” in a pejorative manner is very wrong and inappropriate, and that he supports the efforts towards stopping anti-gay bullying.
