When you’re a young gay person ostracized for being fey, it can be hard to consider that one day, things do get better. They also get bitter as hell. And jaded, even, as Matt Siegel reminds us.
Unfortunately true.
I met a young queeny guy. Pretty femme, but the nicest, most sincere guy you could ever meet. Excited at the age of 19 to begin what he called his “journey” into the queer community.
A year later he was nasty, mean, and just plain hard to be around. All the bitter, jaded queens got their claws into him, made him feel inferior, and eventually turned him into clones of themselves.
A nortorious homocon on Gay Patriot once wrote, “Same sex relationships are beuatiful, loving things. The gay community is a sewer.”
I don’t know.

@Mr. Enemabag Jones: I think the problem is that somewhere along the line the idea took hold in the gay community that being bitchy and full of attitude makes you cool and strong. i don’t know what can be done to fight this.

amen. sadly judgment of others is a part of some groups of gays who enjoy mocking, poking fun of others repeating what seems to be middle school only in a bar or elsewhere. of course, we all have free reign to choose who we hang out and befriend.
