The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) is reporting that Jeffrey Caldwell, 56, was shot and killed by longtime boyfriend John Reed, 54, on April 6 after a heated exchange. The incident happened at their home in Columbus, OH, some time just after 10pm on Friday night. After shooting Caldwell in the chest, Reed called emergency services and told a 911 dispatcher that his partner “was trying to kill me.” Despite Reed’s claim of self-defense, Franklin County Municipal Court has charged him with murder.

It’ll be interesting to see the verdict. Then it’ll just be disappointing that someone had to die.
Again.

see Florida…. how hard was that?

@tj: This is probably a situation where the killer should not have been charged, at least not until all the evidence was examined. Castle Doctrine laws do have their place.

Queerty,
Thanks for pointing out the story. Let’s hope more of us reach out for
help before a relationship reaches this point.
There is reason cops say domestic violence is their worst call.
