Europe’s eleven studly contenders have been revealed for the upcoming Mr. Gay World competition in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The would-be beauty kings range in age from 21 to 42, and hail mostly from staunchly gay-friendly nations, with the exceptions of Mr. Czech Republic (Tomas Fryda) and Mr. Bulgaria (Chavdar Arsov).
Our faves? France’s Remy Frejaville (30, right), the UK’s Samuel Mark Kneen (23, left), and Norway’s Stephen Grindhaug (21, below).
The 2012 Mr. Gay World competition will begin on April 4, with the grand finale on April 8 at Johannesburg’s Lyric Theatre. In all, 25 men from around the world will compete for the top prize. Contest sections include a photo challenge, a sports challenge, a fashion show/runway challenge, a swimsuit challenge, public speaking, and a local outreach challenge.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“The delegate will treat his body as his temple and will be active and outgoing,” explains the contest’s website. “He will have impeccable grooming standards and has a thorough understanding of what attire is appropriate for each engagement he is to encounter.”
The US’s entry this year is 22-year-old Kevin Scott Power from Westchester, NY.
This will be the fourth Mr. Gay World contest. In the first, in 2009, Mr. Ireland was the champ. The subsequent two bouts have been won by Mr. South Africa.

Maybe a stupid question, but are the contestants actually gay?
mziier
blehhhhhhh
they’re all gross
Wha'ever
@MEJ: The French one is at least. He won the Mister Gay award for TETU magazine (a famous French gay magazine) in which he talked about his life.
Petar
Compared to most other countries in Eastern Europe, The Czech Republic and Bulgaria are actually very gay-friendly.
Rockery
one in the chair – ehhh
Standing in boxers -hmmm not bad but not great
last one…UMM NO!
MoJo
Are contestants allowed masculine physical traits? Or are they all waxed?!

I had a look at the full line-up, and I like Mssrs. France, Bohemia, Germany, Finland & Switzerland. Especially Mr. Switzerland.
I’m trying not to snigger at the unfortunate name of the Bulgarian contender though.

in answer to the question, yes all the contestants are gay, and whilst the quotes seem to sugest that physical attributes aer the main criterion, acutally the organisers make work for the community, volunteering, and outreach major parts of the decision process.
Coenie W. Kukkuk
@MEJ: Yes lol!
Samson
One could walk down any street in LA and find a hotter group in one hour, LOL
BubbasBack
This is now a reality show. hahaha. Losers. Burp.

So those are the faces of Europe… And why in S Africa? What a joke. This makes me question my gayness.
T_Wood
@n900mixalot: What do you mean “why in South Africa”? South Africa has more progressive laws when it comes to gay rights than even the US or the UK. With a few exceptions, South African society is largely tolerant and untroubled by homosexuality.

samson…I am sure that you could find hundreds of beautiful, vacuous, wanna be actor/waiters but you must have missed “acutally the organisers make work for the community, volunteering, and outreach major parts of the decision process.” good luck with that on any street in LA.
additionally if you find 10 people posting you will have 10 ideas on what is beautiful
James
Oh god, the Irish one looks like Tintin. It’s terrifying! Due hilarity aside, these are clearly a group of talented blokes. I just wish they were a bit… manlier.
Paul
A lot of the candidates aren’t really that good looking, but I do like Norway, Philippines, and United Kingdom.
Bryan
Whoa, the UK contestant is smoking, props for the boxer briefs and penis outline too lol.
