Have you been paying attention for the last 8 years? We have moved further away from The Constitution than any time in our history. McCain was appalled that The Supreme Court upheld habeas corpus in Guantanamo. What national security goal has Guantanamo accomplished? Convicting Bin Laden’s driver of…driving? Imagine if habeas corpus was thrown out. We might have been able to prosecute Bin Laden’s tailor.

McCain supports Bush’s concept of a constitutional ban on gay marriage, which would be the first Amendment in our history to REMOVE rights, rather than add them. McCain and Palin want to overturn Roe v. Wade. Bush is trying to have ALL birth control considered abortion, which McCain and Palin support. Palin’s own teenage daughter is pregnant. How will this country deal with the financial impact of the increase in pregnant high school students, not to mention, the rise in HIV infections that result from their policies?

The so-called “maverick” McCain supports Bush 90% of the time.

90% of corrupt Attorney Generals, a politicized DOJ, an Executive Branch that is above the law, ordering the FBI to forge documents to take us to war, ignoring subpoenas, deregulating all industries, altering scientific evidence about the effects of global warming on human beings, exposing CIA agents whose spouses are critical of the administration, putting 6 year-olds on a terror watch list, and endorsing torture and rendition is a far more terrifying scenario than any limits placed on assault weapons that Obama might endorse. Not to mention Palin’s endorsement of teaching creationism in school–separation of church and state anyone?

By picking Palin, McCain proved that he is a GOP tool and a Rove puppet. He wanted to pick Lieberman o Romney. Rove would not let him. Country first? My ass. If he cared about this country, he would not caved by picking a running mate whose only foreign relations experience consists of living in a state that is geographically close to Russia. McCain does not even know the difference between sunnis and shites. Palin probably couldn’t even find Afganistan on a map.

The assertion that McCain is a “maverick” is about as accurate as calling Carmen Electra an Oscar-caliber actress.

If Palin ever has to step into the role of President (which is highly likely, considering McCain’s age and history with cancer), I guarantee you that the U.S. will be nuked because of her incompetence.

Further, as you may or may not know, the writing of the Constitution was contentious between two factions – the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Using the “papers” that the founders left behind to interpret the Constitution requires taking sides in that dispute. In short, interpreting the Constitution through “intent” is anything but cut-and-dried.

Finally, how can you possibly imagine that Obama could do any more damage to our Constitution than has already been done to it by 8 years of George W. Bush? McCain’s obvious intention to continue Bush’s policies will certainly not help either!

Voting for Palin when she’s being used as a tool to appeal to some women who should think before they do anything is pure idiocy. Yes I, even as a gay man, would like to see a woman achieve the top spot.
However, would you like to see a woman getting to the top JUST because she’s a woman ? I need actions, I need confidence, I need someone who knows where she goes and why she wants to do it.

I wouldn’t want my child to look up to a woman who used her gender to get next to the top (because let’s face it, she’s just a VP). Voting for the duo would be like saying, ok men can still use woman to get wherever they want and get away with it.

Obama and Biden are two different people. His voting record does not become Obama’s by default and more than Cindy McCain is automatically an adulterer just because John McCain is.

“Don’t ask, don’t tell” was voted on in 1993. DOMA was voted on in 1996. How could Obama have voted for them?

Mostly because Americans voluntarily herd themselves onto the Republicrats’ and Demopublicans’ plantations and then wonder why they’re treated like slaves by the two major parties.

The reality is that on gay issues, in the areas that matter — actual votes — there is literally no difference between the McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden tickets.

They craft their “messages” for their audiences, but their votes are the same.

They both voted against a constitutional amendment against gay marriage.

They both voted for the anti-gay military policy.

They both voted for the anti-gay DOMA bill.

There’s not a hill of beans worth of difference between the two tickets on the issues that matter to gay people.

Just a lot of talk.

And talk is cheap.

Since gay marriage is gaining legs, they can’t trot out the Constitutional ban on gay marriage like they did in 2004. So this year, it’s Roe. v Wade. But, they didn’t deliver on gay marriage and they won’t deliver on Roe v. Wade. McCain will deliver more of what Bush did:

the biggest income disparity since the Depression
Record gas prices
Unregulated and toxic toys

An Executive Branch that is above the law

What an exciting VP pick. What a wonderful world they are offering. Can’t wait until McCain keels over in office and we get nuked because his VP becomes President.

I’m not going to let a person’s gender influence my vote one way or another – and Palin is an anti-Gay, anti-choice, right wing republican with no experience outside of being a mayor of a town of 9,000 and 2 years state level experience.

Anyone who says they support her just because she’s a woman is an idiot. If McCain picked a Gay man with the same lack of experience and background, any Gay people who supported that choice would be an idiot.

And Obama and Biden may not be perfect, but I’d rather have them choosing the next Supreme Court Justices over McCain, who has supported Bush 90% of the time.

If this is the level of decision making McCain is planning to make, we can say good-bye to choice, and any hope of LGBT rights…

I personally think the vote on Proposition 8 in California is far more important to the gay community than the choice for President. This is a Democratic year and there are indications that there may be more than 60 Democrat Senators. Even if McCain wins, he will not be able to govern in the same way that Bush has.
