Palm Springs Police Chief David Dominguez Makes Ungraceful ‘Cocks*cker’ Exit

Well slap me sideways and call me Nancy: Just a week after apologizing publicly for getting caught on tape calling gays “cocksuckers” and “filthy motherfuckers” during a gay sex sting, Palm Springs Police Chief David Dominguez has resigned his post. Oh, sorry, he’s “resigning,” like the two chiefs since 2002 to do the same.

It’s pretty easy to resign before being fired (or severely reprimanded) in such cases and looks better on a resume. Also, usually there’s a process for terminating someone and the process isn’t instantaneous: they have to go through some hoops to make sure they can’t be sued for wrongful termination (this case may be obvious to a lot of people but the rules are there for ones that are not so clear cut).
