Paper Cites Nup Law To Justify Gay Ban
Social conservatives are getting more and more creative with their anti-gay activities:
The Repository, Canton’s daily newspaper, is using a state constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and civil union to forbid the recognition of lesbian and gay couples in print, and has advised all the Ohio newspapers in its chain to follow suit.
“Given the current state of the law in Ohio, the Repository does not currently intend to publish same-sex engagement and wedding announcements. We also don’t intend to address this topic on our editorial page or in letters to the editor,” wrote Executive Editor Jeff Gauger on April 28.
Someone better tell Gauger that ignoring the gays won't make us go away…

much to be expected from a newspaper that is regarded by most in the area as the "canton 'suppository'".
In an age with newspapers hemorrhaging money, declining readership, laying off reporters, selling off assets, and trying to figure out how to compete with the Internet, one would think they would hang onto every revenue source they could.
They deserve to go out of business.
And the faster, the better! If it weren't for the ink, the only good news for the Canton 'Suppository" would be to wipe our asses with it.
Hey Repository, we're even! Most of the people of Canton don't recognize the Repository as a newspaper.
When people in Massillon or Canton want a real newspaper without secret policies, a radical right agenda and moronic, wing-nut "journalism", they subscribe to the Akron Beacon Journal or the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Who'd expect anything more from a fundy, hick organization like Gatehouse? Not me.
