Paper Edits Larry Craig Probe

Larry Craig’s downfall and ethics investigation has lent itself to many a headline over the past few weeks.

Maine’s Portland Press Herald came up with the one above. Apparently some people found it distasteful. From a reader:

Howdy. Saw this in Saturday’s Portland Press Herald and thought of you.

They have since changed the headline online to “Snowe and Collins call for Craig Investigation.” But the original headline – etched in hardcopy for-evuh – read: “Snowe and Collins want Craig probed”.

I wonder what they think he might be hiding up there.

Any number of things, we imagine. Glad to know at least one person thinks of us when he hears the word “probed…”
