Heheh… and the funny part is knowing that since prop 8 has passed tons of churches have been having problems with the most random stuff. Like the church I work at (no one else is willing to hire a kid with severe tourette's …at the moment) the donut and cake orders have been botched every time…but then again I know the baker… so that might be on purpose, and no donuts after church makes people irritable. Then the sound system went out and the printer who does our flyers have been putting odd phrases in. But then again our priest (not the pastor) funded a lot of the yes on 8 flyers for SF…so God may be punishing him. Too bad it makes my job harder…everyone likes to scapegoat me and I haven't done any shit since I dropped the M from masses on the boy scout forms.

I just drove through that area on Saturday and could see the flames from the highway. The fires are really devastating and it's sad for the folks who may have lost their homes. But it did make me wonder about the Christianist blame game and I wondered how soon someone would point out the wrath of God theory for Prop 8 supporters.

Yesterday I wrote.

"Well. California is burning down and there are rainbows over DC. Seems god is trying to say something. Wonder what?"

I foresaw this! God told me so to my face! He is angry at the homophobes!

I'm sorry, but I don't believe God is punishing people with fires for voting for prop 8.

I also believe that our prayers should be for all people, despite what they voted. I liken it to hate the sin, but love the sinner… I hate that they voted for prop 8, but cannot wish ill will or harm to them.

Not to mention, there is also a good chance that some of the people being affected by these fires in the area actually voted against Prop 8.

I think it's really bizarre how the media portray natural disasters in SoCal. For the past several days, I've had nothing but blue skies and nice weather. Even last October, when some historically large fires were burning 8 miles away from my home, life was quite normal. The only difference was that there was a whiff of barbecue in the air.

I don't mean to trivialize the devastation of losing one's home to a fire. But, really, do people not know how immense SoCal is? Or that most of the population lives far from any real fire threat?
