Though Congress has 30 days to review D.C.’s new out-of-state same-sex marriage law, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has us believing she and her colleagues won’t be messing around with it. Says Pelosi: “I don’t think Congress should intervene, any more than we should intervene when New York did something similar.” And D.C.’s not-voting Congressional delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton says: “I do not believe that a serious attempt to overturn the council bill will be made or will be successful,” Norton said in a statement. So much for this.

Rep. Chaffetz continues to threaten to intervene so I think this isn’t a sure thing yet. Just yesterday Chaffetz posted several tweets about his “right” to intervene in District affairs on his twitter feed: @jasoninthehouse . Just because the Speaker says Congress shouldn’t intervene doesn’t mean it won’t.
