FIZZY LOGIC–PepsiCo announced a multi-year deal with the makers of so bad it’s bad for you energy drink Rockstar, which is owned by conservative shock jock Michael Savage, who’s referred to us by such nice names as “sodomites” and has told us that we should all “get AIDS and die.” This comes after Pepsi was targeted by the American Family Association for donating a cool million to the Human Rights Campaign. What’s that about pleasing all of the people all of the time? You can voice your displeasure with Pepsi here.

Displeasure voiced. Although I do not buy any of their products anyways.

Displeasure voiced also. And I don’t buy their crappy stuff anyway.
Rob
im pretty sure that that’s not the pepsi logo. ugh queeerty!
Sebbe
@Rob – umm, yeah it is. see pepsi.com, they changed it. Some have accused them of stealing the obama logo.

When Queerty uses the terms “homo” and “fag” all the time, why do you have a problem with Michael Savage’s choice of words?
ask ena
“What’s that about pleasing all of the people all of the time? ”
I think the more apt question has come to be, “What about displeasing all of the people some of the time?”
In other words…of course we have the right to support and boycott various companies with our $$$…but do we really expect every company to become a politically driven entity? It’s one thing if a company (for example) contributes directly towards a campaign aimed to separate gays and lesbians from their rights and personal safety. Here is a case where the company actively contributes towards HRC ( a good thing…all you HRC haters: here is not the platform…), and then works with a gay-hater for their publicity (which will surely NOT be anti-gay…let’s hope!).
Maybe the similarity of the new logo to the Obama logo is not such a coincidence after all!

If you are interested in really hitting back, see if you can get La Raza or LULAC to hit back at Savage using his anti-Mexican comments too.
I’m going to contact my local clubs to ensure that they will not be serving anti-Gay Rockstar at their venues.

Actually, Rockstar is owned by Michael Weiner Savage’s SON, which isn’t quite the same thing. But it’s close enough I guess. And the new Pepsi logo sucks almost as hard as Savage.
“Rockstar (or ROCKST?R) is an energy drink created in 1986. Rockstar is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is owned by Russell Goldencloud Weiner, son of talk-show host Micheal Weiner” — From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockstar_(drink))

@Rob: Actually yes taht is Pepsi’s NEW logo

@John Smith: John,
Because Queerty doesn’t compare gays to Muslim terrorists, lesbians to Nazis, and gay adoption to child abuse. For f**k’s sake, get a clue.

I sent a note to Pepsi via their website. Here’s their response, and my bounceback…

Dear #011904826A,
1. Thank you for your quick response.
2. Generally, when one sees the phrase “a request to personally respond”, one assumes that the response in question will include…well..the name of an actual person.
3. To be honest, I’m not entirely what part of this message constitutes a personal response, as the language appears to be standard boilerplate response which does not address the issue I raised in my initial message. And, no, I’m not going to repeat myself here; I’m going to assume that, if you actually care, you’ll dig up my initial message.
In short, your response has done nothing to reassure me that Pepsi actually values its LGBT customers. In fact, your canned response suggests you care more about Mr. Savage’s homophobic colleagues instead. And, if you think that this correspondence won’t make its way onto the web, you are sadly mistaken.

@Adam – If this wasn’t so serious it would be funny. Hopefully the world will change enough that we will one day be able to look back and enjoy the irony in this, although I will never forget. BTW – you had me at “Dear #011904826A,”
Oh and they didn’t even bother to respond to me (yet?). All I could picture was someone sitting there looking at a chart and saying, oh another one from the gays, what code is the response for them. Sad. Like I said above, luckily I do not now nor will I ever purchase any products from the PepsiCo company.
Fellow lgbt, if you consume their products please stop, besides the horrid practices of the company, that junk will kill you.

It’s funny you all are so roweled up over this. His comments on homosexuality aren’t nearly as bad as his comments on autism. He’s also made comments about muslims and a sh!t load of other groups. Might want to address those too. Don’t be so selfish in your own agendas.

I was going to write in to Pepsi until I researched the actual founder of Rockstar and it’s Michael Savage’s son, not Michael Savage. I don’t believe in guilt by association. When I hear his son spouting the same ignorance I’ll write in.

Let’s all move to Canada where they have gay marriages and equal rights for all their citizens. We can drink water on our trip up there…
Charles J. MuellerYes, Your Majesty; No, Your Majesty. Tell us how low to go, Your Majesty; Make some more decrees, Your Majesty, Don't let us up off out knees, Your Majesty. Give us a kick, if you please Your Majesty Give us a kick, if you would, Your Ma
One would have to have very little love for themselves, drinking any of the carbonated, loaded with sugar soft drinks on the market. And those sweetened with Aspartame, are even worse for you.
Drink water…or fruit juice. Much healthier…and cheaper too.

Cee “When I hear his son spouting the same ignorance I’ll write in.”
Here is a link to an article about a performance by Michael Savage, with intro from his son, “I’m proud to be the son of Savage!” With the actual intro for his father being, “”Who’s heterosexual and proud?” he asked, prompting manly cheers. “If you’re not, hopefully you will be soon!” Before handing the stage over to the man he called “our leader,” he advised the audience how to handle his hot-tempered dad: “Let him know you love him!”

That work for you?

Who really buys Pepsi anymore? Their products are horrible. Furthermore Michael Savage needs to worry a little more about where he might spend eternity rather than focusing on hatred, bigotry and all the negative elements that fall within. Funny how these Bible beatin hate-mongers are so quick to judge others and obviously missed the whole chapter in the Bible regarding the 10 Commandments and judging others. Stop playin GOD people, it’s quite pase
