You knew this was coming: Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson is back, as unrepentant and offensive as ever. Appearing on Good Morning America to plug his new book, “unPHILtered: The Way I See It,” Robertson wrapped himself in Christ to justify his ongoing homophobia.
“I’m as much of a homophobe as Jesus was,” Robertson said. “People who are participating in homosexual behavior, they need to know that I love them.”
Robertson’s response came when GMA’s Ryan Owens asked him point blank if Robertson considered himself a homophobe, the journalistic equivalent of asking the sky if it’s blue.
Just as a reminder, Robertson has compared homosexuality to bestiality and has called gay people “wicked.” There’s no telling what he says about people he doesn’t proclaim to love.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
During the GMA interview, Robertson used the Bible to justify his original comments about the sinfulness of being gay. “The only place I know of that I could have gone to answer that question would be a Bible,” Robertson said. “The dictionary wouldn’t have explained it. An encyclopedia wouldn’t have explained it, whether it was a sin or not. So I went to the only source I had to answer his question.”
Meantime, the right-wing media machine is glorifying Robertson as a hero because he is fluent in stupidity. During an appearance on Sean Hannity’s program, Robertson ventured from the swamps of Louisiana into foreign policy, declaring that there’s only two options for dealing with the terrorist group Islamic State: “either convert them or kill them.”
Wonder if that thought ever crossed his mind when he thinks about us.

“The dictionary wouldn’t have explained it. An encyclopedia wouldn’t have explained it, whether it was a sin or not. So I went to the only source I had to answer his question.”
How about you open your fucking eyes and look around at the world without needing to run to a book to answer a question about life for you? The WORLD is a source–people, places, things that can be observed. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if people could just step away for one second, look around to see the non-harm that gay people are doing to the world, and make their decision based on that? But that would require logic, and well…etc etc

This is why people think religion is a joke.

AGAIN: Jesus didn’t say one F*****g word about same-sex anything! Why can’t the religious F**ktards get that???
Saint Law
Oh look it’s the yuppie with the thing for underage girls.

@DickieJohnson: Because that’ll be an obstacle to their bigotry, and hate othera is really comfortable, you always have someone to blame for everything wich is way easier to take a deep look at yourself to know what is failing

God is not real. The bible is stolen from Egyptian
Mythology and other historic tales.

In the Old Testament, the Ten Commandments do not include homosexual behavior (Deuteronomy 5.11-21) and the seven acts most detestable to God (Proverbs 6.16-19: “haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and a man who sows discord among brothers” do not mention sexual misconduct. In the New Testament, Christ never mentioned homosexuality and asked for understanding and restraint of condemnation in sexual matters (John 8.1-11). The Bible never discusses homosexuality in the context of committed relationships or within the Gay community.112 In I Corinthians 6.9-10, as translated by some into English, St. Paul (coming from a cross-cultural Hebrew, Greek, and Roman perspective) discusses pagan sanctioned temple (cult) male prostitutes (???vo?, pornos), effeminate males or catamites (?????o?, malakos), and homosexuals (????vo?o????, arsenokoites). St. Paul’s statements taken literally, as translated into English, would condemn celibate effeminate homosexuals. Boswell, using Koine Greek contemporary to St. Paul, translations into other languages, and early Christian scholarship and commentaries on I Corinthians 6.9-10 argues St. Paul was not discussing homosexuals or homosexuality.113
Saint Augustine, considered Pauline, admitted homosexual practices with much anguish. When Saints John Chrysostom and Augustine–both vehemently opposed to homosexuality–comment on I Corinthians 6.9-10, neither mentions homosexuality.114 St. Augustine’s major apologist, Martin Luther, wrote derisively of homosexuals, but translated “????vo?o????” as “Knabenschänder,” or child molester.115 Recent discussions with Christian scholars in Koine at the time of the New Testament, state the word meant child molester at the time it was written. The Christian Emperor, Justinian, who herded whole villages into rivers to be baptized so they could die in Christ, believed homosexuality caused earthquakes, famines, and pestilence and legislated homosexual behavior should be subjected to penance much like adultery.116 His wife, Theodora, a former prostitute, avoiding abortion while married to Justinian, had her illegitimate children murdered..
Where does Robinson get his information from bathroom walls?

I wish these people would stop telling us they love us. Seriously, it’s getting creepy.

Someone really ought to explain to Phil that “sin” is just an imaginary disease invented to sell the gullible and dimwitted an imaginary cure.
Bad Ass Biker
Who gives a rat’s ass how Phil “sees things” and as for his love; no thank you. I have lived a long life without it and can certainly manage to live a few more years without your “love”. Besides, I am not into red necked swamp creatures who looks as if they came from the movei Deliverance.
Mr-DJ
OH ! So now Phil DOES accept everyone! (as Jesus would). Nice to see that he has changed. So, no more homophobia!
DickieJohnson
@murphy0071: Thank you for this well-written revelation, truly! It’s amazing to me that anyone who preaches, and attests to “know the Bible”, can’t see the same truth.
Ogre Magi
Christians are such turds
Kangol
Does this dumb-bunny not know Jesus Christ NEVER MENTIONS HOMOSEXUALITY? Same sexual desire and sex existed during the historical period of Christ’s life, but CHRIST NEVER MENTIONS HOMOSEXUALITY.
He never condemns it.
NEVER.
NEVER.
NEVER.
This should be thrown back in the face of “Christian” homophobes every time they start spouting off about Jesus Christ and homosexuality. Shut them down with the facts!
Kangol
@DickieJohnson:
Because they are ignorant and far too often, in the heat of the moment, LGBTIQ Christians will not challenge them on this, perhaps out of fear, out of not knowing, etc.
But they have to be challenged.

I implore everyone to spread the word in as many ways as you possibly can to publicize that THIS VILE DISGUSTING ABHORRENT SUB HUMAN NOXIOUS SCUMBAG IS A PEDOPHILE!! HE HAS PUBLICLY URGED MEN TO FIND AND SCREW 15 AND 16 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRLS!! THIS IS 100% ACCURATE AND TRUE……..
Roan
I nominate Phil Robertson to go over to the Middle East and begin his conversion process immediately. Good luck!
Xzamilio
Who the hell cares what this Jesus did or didn’t say in that book? Prove he existed and that gods exist, and then we’ll talk. Otherwise, it’s just a bunch of people using mythology to justify crap that we as humans should not need to justify because it is who we are. 2,000 years and people are still holding on to supernatural nonsense.
JJ24
As other have said Jesus never said one word about it, so by mentioning it alone he has proven himself more a homophobe. It’s also interesting that their bible speaks about it so much yet at the time it was written the word didn’t exist.
hephaestion
Why the hell did Good Morning America invite this looney bird Robinson on their show??? WTF?!
Jesus never said a word about homosexuality. Too bad Robertson has never heard of that new invention called a BOOK. There are lots of them that disprove pretty much every lunatic piece of nonsense he spits out.
jmmartin
Wait a minute. Neither he nor anyone else has any idea whether Jesus was the least homophobic, so how can this rascal say he is “as” homophobic. He profanes his God if he compares himself to the deity. Now, if he is saying he is as homophobic as Paul of Tarsus, formerly Saul, I can fully agree. Saul-Paul was not only homophobic, he was misogynistic. Not only was he misogynistic, he was self-contemptuous. Basing any opinions on what Saul-Paul said is ridiculous enough, but to allow him to put words into the mouth of the Prophet, now that is sacrilege.

Romans 1:26-32, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” Also Leviticus 20:13, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” Both of these were scriptures taken from the bible. Whether you believe in Christ is your own decision; however, the bible somewhat considered philosophy is built on one basic principle most people infer an idea of it then refuse to look any further as they would with any other basic form of philosophy. How can you deny any type of philosophy without reading it first. So yes the bible does state the frowned upon look of homosexuality. So to prove your point that it is total ludacris should you not read it first to get your information correct

Shows the value of Religion I think eh? Also shows how stupid people make money in America. As there was no Jesus, he’s right up on things, and the List of Stupidity only starts there. This guy is as dumb as Bush – and yes – that IS saying something.
Cam
Funny, because Jesus never mentioned gays, but you do Phil.
Jesus DID speak out against divorce and I don’t see Good Ole Phil talking about that thought. Funny huh?
AzLights
@rachelfalen: Congratulations on your ability to cut and paste.
lykeitiz
I don’t recall anywhere in the Bible where Jesus intentionally changed his look from corporate CEO to dirty white-trash hillbilly just to fool the public & make piles of cash. I don’t see the comparison.

@PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS: Attraction to 15 year olds is NOT pedophilia. It is Ebophilia. At least get your terms right for your argument.

The bible said a lot more about ADULTERY. SO why do these right wingers love ADULTERERS?
GINGRICH, LIMBAUGH, VITTER, MC CAIN, CRAIG, PALLADINO, GIULIANI, BARR, ENSIGN, TRUMP, LEE, SCHWARZENEGGER, SANFORD
And all while espousing FAMILY VALUES and attempting to legislate the morals of others!!!

On the topic of the “Dumbing Down” of America…..who do you think has the lower IQ, people who spend their time watching Duck Dynasty or Honey Boo Boo?
Merv
@rachelfalen: I’ve noticed a pattern with you guys. You take scriptures that are really about something else entirely, but might touch in some indirect way on homosexuality, and then act as if that’s the lesson of the verse. Some examples:
Above, you cited Romans 1:26, which starts out “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections…”. The main point of this out-of-context verse is to condemn worshiping false idols. If you go back a verse or two, you’ll see that that’s what “For this cause” refers to. God’s punishment, turning straight people gay, is rather incidental. The effect is that it would break up established heterosexual relationships. A similar thing would happen if gay people were turned straight.
Christians also love to quote Matthew 19:4, which quotes Jesus asking “Have ye not read, that He that made them at the beginning made them male and female?”. They pretend this verse is referring to homosexuality, when if you look back one verse, it’s very clear that it’s about heterosexual divorce.
Christians also like to pretend that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is about homosexuality, even though Ezekiel 16:49 says explicitly that it’s not: “Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy”.
Cam
@Merv:
Or another thing they leave out…. Jesus spoke SPECIFICALLY against divorce, but never said a word against homosexuality and yet NONE of these supposedly religious people are out there protesting divorce.
They are just bigots, plain and simple and desperately trying to use their religion to defend against the charges of bigotry.

@NoCagada: I don’t care what the term is. Advocating diddling 15 year olds is a sick, twisted, abhorrent scumbag. And those who support that scumbag relic are just as twisted and sick as he is……………
