PHOTOS: On Sunday, the Treatment Action Group (TAG), one of the world’s leading AIDS research advocacy organizations, hosted its 16th annual Research in Action Awards at 404NYC in New York.
Marking the organization’s 20th anniversary, the awards were emceed by NBC’s Weekend Today anchor Jenna Wolfe and honored actress/humanitarian Judith Light; Dr. Paul Farmer, cofounder of Partners In Health and chairman of Harvard Medical School’s Department of Global Health and Social Medicine; Dr. Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, the Nobel-winning virologist who discovered the HIV virus;and journalist Jon Cohen, author of Shots in the Dark: The Wayward Search for an AIDS Vaccine.
Joining the esteemed recipients were TAG director Mark Harrington, co-founder, Peter Staley, How to Survive a Plague producer Joy Tomchin, and Chelsea Clinton, who presented Dr. Farmer with his award.
