PHOTOS: 5 Underwear Brands That Celebrate Hispanic Heritage

PHOTOS: Today, October 15, marks the end of Hispanic Heritage month in the U.S. The month, which actually falls in between September and October, celebrates the accomplishments and culture of men and women who trace their ancestry to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Underwear is one area that has been highly influenced by Latin culture — one of the most popular styles of swimwear this past summer was the sunga, which has origins in Brazil, while the underwear brand, Papi, created a line of Hispanic Heritage underwear this year. The company was founded at a time when Hispanic brands didn’t have much representation, but today, there are many who wave their Hispanic flags proud. Check out just some of the brands that have made an impact in the world of underwear (the above brand, JOR, is based in Colombia).

Pikante – Colombia

Papi – US

Joe Snyder – Mexico

ES Collection – Spain

This doesn’t celebrate Hispanic heritage at all. Underwear is not something exclusive to Hispanic culture nor does it represent us. And if there is Hispanic underwear is there white people underwear? Would we just have a bunch of dudes in fruit of the loom if you did a story on the white contribution to underwear? How bout whoever wrote this crap should have written about, oh I don’t know, all the Hispanic gay activists in the US or in any Latin country? Don’t call a bunch of guys in their underwear Hispanic heritage, it offends those of us who actually care about our culture. This should be titled “we don’t know crap about Hispanic heritage so here are some almost naked Latin guys”.

Because nothing says “proud of my cultural heritage” like my boxer briefs.

More advertising under the guise of “news”. Illegal in some countries Queerty, where advertisements have to be clearly identified.

You guys know that most of the articles on this site is just cut and paste of articles arcross the web… this is just and example of a poor mash-up of two articles that are posted on The Underwear Expert.

Before really bitching about how this article doesnt meet your standards of what is part of Hispanic Heritage, go to the original articles. Do not rely on Queerty representation of the original story.

I’ve counted these pictures and brands five times already. There are four brands and four pictures. The title reads 5 underwear brands. Am I missing something? I think you are missing the one Latinamerican brand that’s been in the market since 2004. Ergowear. http://www.ergowear.com/

Just as gays can remix any music and make it danceable, Queerty can take any random event and use it to post pics of boys in underwear.

Nothing but the best journalism here on Queerty.
