In my teens and 20's I truly resembled this guy a lot(with red hair and green eyes) and never suffered for a lack of company, truly. Spent more time fending off than having sex sometimes. So my point: you can dis the pretty ones all you want but we have plenty of fun well into our 40's. I am 45 now. Some of my" average" friends are either jealous or annoyed coz, in our group, I am still the one getting hit on. Being boyish and pretty is not a curse in my book, nope. We don't always get taken seriously in other ways but I can live with that. This is a reality as I hear these comments about me often. IE about being" boyish, androgynous, should do drag, you have movie star eyes," etc… People have done a lot more than watching paint dry with me that is for sure.. I am also down to earth and kind and never dis anyone for not being good looking, slender, tall, short or being too much or for being too fem or too butch… oh and I am 5' 6" 130lbs & so what..i'm OK with that, too.
What's up with gay men's aversion to effeminacy and androgyny. Have the gays been bitten by the macho bug too? We should be a symbol for diversity. Men should not necessarily conform to traditional masculine traits and behaviors. Why can't we just appreciate the beauty that has been presented to us rather than projecting our own idealized image of the perfect mate.
