The streets of Berlin’s already way-gay Schöneberg neighborhood turned especially queer this past weekend for the city’s annual Lesbisch-schwules Stadtfest, or Lesbian & Gay Cityfest.
Drawing more than 400,000 people every year, Europe’s largest LGBT street festival spans a 200,000-square foot area in the blocks surrounding Motzstrasse between Nollendorfplatz and Viktoria-Luise-Platz.
Scores of booths provide info about a broad spectrum of groups and services, and sell products running the gamut from food to hand-crafted wooden sex toys. Entertainment runs throughout the fest, highlighted by Saturday’s “Das wilde Sofa”, a hugely popular onstage talk show with local celebs.
The German capital’s Cityfest always happens on the weekend before Berlin Pride, known locally as CSD (for Christopher Street Day).
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
