PHOTOS: Broadway Bares XXII Wraps With A “Happy Ending”

Dozens of insanely hot Broadway dancers—not to mention GCB‘s Miriam Shor, actress Jennifer TillyEvita‘s Rachel Potter and Lady Bunny—burned the midnight oil at Broadway Bares XXII: Happy Endings, the most recent edition of Broadway Cares/Equity Fight AIDS’ annual burlesque revue raising money for vital HIV/AIDS services.

As announced, this year’s theme was fairy tales—well, with Into the Woods coming back, Once Upon a Time and Grimm on TV and two Snow White movies in theaters recently, it was kind of  an obvious choice. But the seductive and eye-popping performances were anything but predictable: Performers re-created scenes from Pinocchio, Snow White, Rapunzel, Goldilocks, Cinderella and other famous fairy tales with routines that were both astounding and erotically-charged. (We seriously think the girl standing next to us got pregnant during the Aladdin number.)

Audiences at both the 9:30 and midnight shows were not disappointed, though the rumor is the later performance is always a bit more risque. The aerial work, in particular, made the night like an amazing combination of Cirque du Soleil, a top Broadway show, and a night at the Folies Bergère.

When the music stopped, Tony winner Judith Light thanked the sponsors and Broadway Bares’ creator Jerry Mitchell, followed by Spamalot‘s Chris Sieber and Bares veteran Rachelle Rak working the “rotation,” where audience members cram ones, fives, twenties and fifties into dancers’ thongs.

They were still counting the money when we went to bed, so we’ll have the grand total for you later today. Plus more smoldering photos from this year’s show.

Miriam Shor is awesome, we need to see more of her. There is a large movement online to have GCB renewed by ABC or picked up by another network. The petition? has over 70,000 signatures. Go to saveGCB.com to sign and help keep the show alive.

OWEN: I think his name is Rob. He was one of my favorites as well. Were you at the 9:30 or Midnight show?
