OH SNAP — Before he dropped his bare ass in Eminem's face, Sacha Baron Cohen walked the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. Or stumbled down the red carpet. Or, uh, assaulted the red carpet. (Photos: Fame Pictures)

I'm sort of looking forward to seeing this movie. But can you say "Overkill" on the promotion?

His stereotyping is putting gay men back 50 years. He's a disgrace!!!

@Bob: I agree. Gay people are not in a place of needing to be taken down a notch right now. This is just kicking the dog.

Very offensive. I won't watch this bigoted movie.

He's getting laughs (not to mention big bucks) at our expense!

I love Sacha! If you don't get it you don't get it. I don't like drag performers, but the feirce bitches have done more to move the debate for our rights than anyone. I wouldn't date Bruno, but I'll buy a ticket to the movie.

@Bob: I have to agree. SBC seems to have crossed the line into total offensiveness. Borat is the equivalent of taking Robert Downey Jr.'s blackface character in Tropic Thunder and removing any dignity or depth… There would've been shockwaves throughout the black community if the character had been treated like this, and paraded around in public and at awards shows.

Not impressed by the minstrel act, nor his ass in eminem's face. I would've had the same reaction as eminem did. I mean, come on, if you'd enjoy that in front of a live TV audience then you've got some need issues.

As far as I can tell, the point of these characters is to provoke and embarrass people with bigoted attitudes, not to make fun of gays or Kazakhs or whoever. It was clear in "Borat" that the target was the ridiculous xenophobes and racists who exposed their views on camera because they thought no one was watching, and I imagine that "Bruno" is trying to do something similar. Perhaps the satire is a little too subtle?

Oh please, he's no worse than that silly black queen on "America's Next Top Model" and his ridiculous big circus bowties. Lighten up.

wtf, like, 3 of you understand his humor, he's not getting laughs at our expense, he's getting laughs at the expense of people who hate us, but displaying a caricature, i for one support it. if acting overtly flamboyant in the face of homophobia is what's needed to expose that homophobia and demean it, then i fully agree and support.
Also, if we can't even laugh at ourselves, who the hell can we laugh at, right man? And don't forget, our culture isnt based only on strong burly straight acting men with plenty of body hair, we're also based on the drag queens, the fairys, the sissy boys and all the other wonderful, and/or campy queers out there.
Take it easy man.

@dantalion: just because we don't think he's funny or helpful doesn't mean we don't "get it." it's not like it's *that* sophisticated.

THANK YOU Chapeau. Its fine if you don't think he's funny, just, it's not like he's a homophobic a**hole. And full disclosure, I think he's hilarious.

I HATES Borat simply because I was uncomfortable watching the people around SBC's character. Not because I didn't think he was being funny. I think his characterisations are hilarious and Ali G is a long standing favourite. To be honest, this is far less offensive than Bear Force 1 … and the straight world plays to stereotypes all the time… Jocks are dumb in most teen movies but the jocks don't mind… and by the way … Phillip Seymour Hoffman flamed up the screen in Flawless wtih big bad Bobby De Niro.. and noone seemed to mind then…. is it because you wish your legs looked as good as Bruno's in YOUR Cavalli's??

@Rikard:

Agreed. Drag queens are fun as hell, but let's be honest, they don't exactly help our cause for the mainstream public, but that's no reason to throw them under a bus. It's entertainment people. Believe it or not there actually are a lot of queers out there that are just as ridiculous. I've met them!

This is about as funny as a cancer on the head on my dick.

Not interested at all. Even for free.

Cohen is done.
