PHOTOS: Colby Keller Stars In Wild Orgy of Fashion And Art

New York’s own Cockyboy Studios teamed up with fellow local, avant-garde gay designer BCALLA, to create a head-scratching, ball-baring, sexually provocative, conceptual art project merging the worlds of fashion, explicit sex and a Saturday morning cartoon acid trip.

It’s basically what would happen if Fraggle Rock took place in a Teletubby sex dungeon. So, y’know: awesome.

Poetic adult star Colby Keller took part in the project as part of his own project, Colby Does America — wherein he more or less bangs his way across the United States — with the BCALLA collaboration becoming his New York chapter.

“Sex is a part of everybody’s life,” said Keller. “So why not make it a part of fashion and art and all those other ways we like to express ourselves? I mean, there’s a lot of shame around sex, particularly when it gets graphic when it actually is sex. And there shouldn’t be. So this is kind of a way to break that barrier down which I think is a good thing.”

Society certainly has its problems with same-sex affection, let alone same-sex sex — hell,  a recent survey by GLAAD and Harris Poll found that over a third of straight Americans are uncomfortable seeing a same-sex couple hold hands. There’s also a fear among the gay community over the realities of gay sex coming to a mainstream light. That’s the graphic stuff Keller’s talking about.

But, it stands to reason, that as LGBTs become more visible, so will our lifestyles — all aspects of our lifestyles, including sex.

Cockyboy Jake Jaxson sees the project as a continuation of pop culture’s collision with adult entertainment.

“Why wouldn’t we do this? It’s creative, fun, gay, and most of all engaging,” Jaxson said, noting the recent balls on display — both literal and figurative — at shows by Tom Ford and Rick Owens. “I’m proud to support BCALLA in this one-of-a-kind project that will do wonders for bringing adult film out of the dark and into the forefront of pop culture.”

Well, I don’t know if it will do “wonders” but it will certainly start a dialogue. BCALLA is known for dressing Lady Gaga and Azealia Banks, so his outré aesthetic won’t make it into a Kohl’s catalog anytime soon. But explicit video is already out of the dark and becoming a part of pop culture. The idiosyncratic career of artsy adult star turned designer Francois Sagat speaks to that. Colby Keller, too, is redefining the adult film star.

Whatever your ideas of the fashions on display, or the men modeling them, BCALLA and Cockyboys have created one of the more interesting collaborations to come out of New York Fashion Week in some time. Check out Colby, Jake and the Cockyboy kids in the lookbook for BCALLA’s Fall-Winter 2015 collection, edited for your mother. But don’t actually show your mother this or she might make you get off the internet.
