Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, starts at sundown tonight. On Saturday, Jayson Littman of He’bro hosted the pre-Rosh Hashanah party Jew Year’s Eve at the Union Square Ballroom in New York, and was ~~foolish~~ kind enough to send us the photographic evidence.

Some Jews especially Orthodox Jews can be VERY homophobic and anti-GLBT.

Even Israel as much as it is now pimped out as a GLBT friendly place to visit is not pro GLBT.

Also, there were about at least a dozen orthodox gay kids at this party – so while some orthos can be homophobic…not all are. chill out and just enjoy.

I should have taken my snooty gay Manhattan WASPs to this and not told them what it was til they were in the middle of it. They think you should only hang with Jews if you’re seeing your lawyer or visting the dentist. (Bad-looking crowd too, as usual in Manhattan, but those two guys in photo number one are rather cute).

@Ariel42: I believe the only overall virulently homophobic Jews are the Hasidim/Haredi. But they’re kind of a strange cult that a lot of Jews don’t like. (Of course the Hasidim think they’re the only REAL Jews..)
