MORNING GOODS: It’s a thinking man’s Morning Goods today! We were inspired by Flavorwire’s feature on literary lions in various stages of undress (which was in turn inspired by the recent discovery of a shirtless Mark Twain pic) to create our own photo album offering some legendary gay writers in seductive poses.

Is Peter’s fly open in slide #10? What a hottie.

Christopher Rice is a literary giant? No. More accurately he is Anne Rice’s kid.

Gore Vidal’s cheekbones were second to none. I love all these authors, but especially Jean Genet. I’m writing my Master’s thesis on him now. His writing is still hot

Mr. Fight Club is gay? Who knew?
Jay
Mark Twain (#8) was gay? I never knew that before, either.

Some may be shirtless, but not necessarily sexy…Sorry. But t-shirted and butch, Chuck…WOOF!

Damn, I couldn’t one token? I’m sure they’re some sexy shots of James Baldwin or Samuel R. Delaney out there. And thinking beyond my melanin enhanced circle, Yukio Mishima knew how to serve the sexy.
Caliban
That’s a good point, Philip. I can’t think of any “sexy” pics I’ve seen of James Baldwin (which isn’t a slight of his work), but there must be something of Samuel R. Delaney, and certainly of Mishima, a bodybuilder who loved to have his photo taken.
Genet’s writing is still very erotic, and though I’m hit and miss with Palahniuk, yum. Other than his first book, which I liked, Christoper Rice is…. cute.

Thank you Phillip and Caliban for saying what I was thinking. There is a shot of James Baldwin from his younger days and he was surprisingly fit. Langston Hughes springs to mind, although his being gay is a subject of debate. Mishima, a 10 second search on Google Images will reveal any number of very sexy shots of him. E. Lynn Harris is another author I think should have been included.
I’m a bit disappointed with Queerty right now.

Palahniuk may technically be queer but I don’t think he qualifies as a “queer writer”.

Isn’t Bret Easton Ellis also a big bummer?
