Queerty is better as a member
GOD!!! Do we as a species have to race from one ugly fad (ie saggy pants, plucked bodies, pierced almost anything, over the top tats, etc.) to the man bun? Couldn’t someone please come up with something that actually makes us look better?
@Goforit: I’ll take man buns over tats any day.
@KittyLitter: KL If you are referring about the buns about half way down a mans body, I would happily agree. If you mean the bun on a mans head, not so much.
I don’t know what’s more surprising: that this is news, or that there exist people who think man buns look good.
Jared Leto’s “man-bun” was HOT-HOT-HOT. Alex Ebert’s Golden Globes “rats nest” was just that and looked nasty as hell.
@jwrappaport: When done right…it’s way hot!
So not attractive on a man – straight, gay, dark, light, now or on a Tokugawa period shogun.
Douchey faux-homeless simply isn’t my style nor is it a turn-on for me.
Some of these guys are obviously attractive, but looking like you are unaware of the very existence of soap is just SO not “hot”.
@Dwayne420: Define “right”. This is really pretty awful.
In a word: No.
I’d love to get two handfuls of Jared Leto’s man bun”s” while I look into his beautiful eyes and kiss him! I would probably have a better chance with Rayon though. Probably couldn’t even get that lucky.
Not a fan of this fad-that’s-come-back (from the hippie 1970s) but that guy with the kitten is kind of hot.
In general, though, bald with beard is MUCH hotter. Beards and goatees in general are hot, especially if they’re even semi-groomed. If it’s got to be long hair, let it be an afro, long and straight, or in cornrows.
The bun, not so much.
Looks like a hippy thing from the 1960’s. Not appealing at all.
It’s amazing how straight-laced and conventional some gays are, judging by the comments on here. Well-kept long hair is generally hot, and I appreciate guys who have the balls to wear it in different ways. As some of these photos demonstrate, it can accentuate facial features and it signals a relaxed, confident masculinity. If you want to live your life in jeans and a checked shirt, with short back and sides, go ahead. But don’t throw bricks at guys with more flair and daring.
Nah,I’m not liking the hair buns.
Thank you! I get SO sick of the “I hate long hair!” people along with the “I hate tats!”, “I hate beards!”, “I hate chest hair!”! If you don’t like the subject why not just skip it instead of whining?
Any guy who’s hair is long enough to tie in a bun is already a no-no
When I was in college back in the mid 90’s I knew a guy who wore his hair like this. So, this isn’t new. It looked great on him. He wore it more like the ginger in pic 3.
I lived during the so-called hippie era of the 60’s & early 70’s in the Haight-Ashbury of San Francisco and I do not recall a hair style similar to this. We wore long hair with either a headband, hat, or tied into a pony-tail. Long hair kept clean and well cared for is extremely masculine. This “bun” thing looks to be some concoction of a japanese warlord combined with an unkempt street person. Another attempt to DE-masculinize a Man ? I wonder. Who comes up with this stuff ? The quicker it goes away – the better. Of course, this is just one man’s opinion and his right to express it. Also it would be nice to see the following go away, to wit: shaved bodies, shaved heads and crotches, hardware of any kind, along with baggy pants, hoodies, and the perennial ball cap ! I’m beginning to think the only well dressed MAN anymore, is a real working cowboy !
I don’t mind long hair. Straight, curly, in an afro, cornrows, you name it. But these buns just don’t do it for me. I also like tats and piercings, etc.
Buns, no. What’s next for these guys? Up dos? French braids?
