Last weekend in Los Angeles, Freedom to Marry held a National Engagement Party, a nationwide series of house parties to raise funds for states voting on marriage equality in November. Glee star Jane Lynch joined host Dean Hansell Assemblymember Betsy Butler, Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom, Los Angeles City Councilmember Eric Garcetti, West Hollywood Councilmember John Duran Freedom to Marry National Campaign Director Marc Solomon, former presidential hopeful Fred Karger and others in helping the cause.

Two days earlier, on October 5, a similar fete was held in Palm Springs and hosted by Warren “Woody” Wood and Doug Hairgrove, who have been together for more than 50 years.

The upcoming New York party on October 13 will be hosted by Former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman with Congressman Jerrold Nadler, lead sponsor of the Respect for Marriage Act, in attendance.

Visit Freedom to Marry’s website for details on other house parties in Miami, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, where activist ally Zach Wahls will be a special guest.
