PHOTOS: This past weekend, patrons at LA’s famed The Abbey Food and Bar were treated to a night of not-so-professional bar stripping for a good cause. As they opened their wallets and sipped down cocktails, former Drag Race contestant Willam Belli took to the stage to act as hostess for a bartender auction that would benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). The bartenders stripped, showed off their abs, and charmed the crowd as they were auctioned off for dates with their highest bidder. Overall, the event raised $75,00o for APLA in just two hours. Jim Poole was the one with the highest bid of $22,000. Check out some pics from the event below.

@MikeE: @Bozen: Why is it that gay white supremecists always want to shut up those of us who point out the hypocritical bigotry of the gay community?
It’s unfortunate that liberty and equality are unimportant to you, but that’s a personal problem. So until the gay community stops resembling the modern day KKK, no I won’t shut up about the prejudice of self-absorbed asshats like you.
Thank for calling me God, though.
@Jackhoffsky: Too bad you weren’t able to find any humor in your lame attempt to be funny.
It’s nice to see so many washed-up gays still want to sweep Jim Crow under the rug. Too bad for them, as I’m just getting warmed up. :)

@DobieOwner: It’s amazing the knots bigots will twist themselves into to justify segregation and discrimination against others when they are the first to screech and sqwak when it negatively affects them. But good to know that you think the US Army should have been allowed to “hire who they want to” and thus not hire gays. If the gays don’t like Russia’s anti-gay policies, Chick-fil-A’s anti-gay policies, they should just “shut up” and not go to Russia or Chick-fil-A, right? They shouldn’t speak out against it and make it such a “big deal.” The fact that certain institutions have discriminatory policies against gays “really should have no affect” whatsoever.
Oh wait — in the gay community, discrmination is only bad when it negatively affects white gays. If the white gays are getting along, then we should just “shut up” about everybody else.
@DobieOwner: “I’d say there’s probably 0% chance that ANY of those guys are straight. Your gaydar is broken pal.” Spoken as someone who’s clearly never been to The Abbey and instead is just blowing BS out of his butt, since everybody knows The Abbey hires straight bartenders, one of whom is a Brazilian friend of mine.
It helps to comment on experiences you actually have rather than commenting from 2,000 miles away about places with which you have zero experience…pal.
@Jackhoffsky: Typical. Hooded white supremacists like you are generally unable to distinguish between a specific issue being about race and every issue being about race ONLY, which is obviously not the same thing except to dense people who are uncomfortable talking about race when appropriate because of their own racial prejudices.
I, too, am sorry that you got in over your head attempted to discuss an issue about which you do not care and upon which you have no authority to speak. So that makes two of us.
@tdx3fan: Oh, so, if a restuarant wants to serve only white people or only straight people — to keep their customers happy — that’s perfectly fine huh?
What black people need to do is continue to ignore people like you who wish to justify Jim Crow at all costs. Trying to position yourself as a victim by inventing some hypothetical fantasy scenario that would never happen — a gay bar hiring only black bartenders — is comical. But leave it to a bigot to whine about something that hasn’t and won’t ever happened while defending the fact that The Abbey does have one (let alone ALL) black bartenders on staff.
