Some things are universal—death, taxes, Dykes on Bikes heading up gay pride parades.
The lesbian motorcycle association led Stockholm Pride‘s street parade on Saturday, the largest LGBT gathering in Scandinavia. The march started at the Zinkensdamm sports arena in Södermalm and wrapped up in at Sergels Torg in the city center. And not even some last-minute rain could dampen the high spirits at the event, a culmination of a week of LGBT-related events. Check out our colorful slideshow above.

I was one of the volunteers along the parade route and it was great to see how many people turned out to watch, even when it started raining. The police estimated hundreds of thousands of people lining the route and (at least at the royal palace section) there was a fantastic mix of young and old, locals and tourists.
This year even the Christian Democrats took part, evidence that despite their opposition to gay marriage a couple of years ago at least some in the party are more open-minded.
Stockholm’s a beautiful city and the rainbow flags flying everywhere from public buildings to buses looked wonderful, especially when the sun came out again.
