“Imagine a pub crawl with all your Marine buddies wearing nothing but silkies and rucks on the most crowded and beautiful boardwalk in California.”
No, that’s not a hypnotist trying to drift you off into your happy place, it’s the Facebook description for “22, with 22, for the 22,” a San Diego event that saw marines walking 22km, with 22 kg of weight on their backs (that part was optional), to raise awareness of the unconscionable fact that 22 vets kill themselves every day due to PTSD.
And while the name and concept are clever enough, these guys had the foresight to realize that to really attract media attention, why not complete the task in their silkies?
As local 10 News aptly reported, “You’d think they’re boyfriends, but they’re just dudes being dudes.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Coincidentally, that’s the same thing we said about some of these guys.
But enough talk, here are the photos:

@Jon Andrews:
I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully the VA is doing right by your relative.

I admire the good cause, but you don’t need to strip down to prove a point.
Tommy O'Brien
I think the stripping down was to get media attention to their cause and like Skyler said WooF
TrueWords
@Mark Wesley Pritchard: well it got your attention and the attention of MANY others…also I will allow these men clemency as they have served our country…

So they had chest hair in the first picture and then shaved it off for the rest of the shoot? That’s a little weird.

PTSD is devastating not only for those suffering, but also for the family. Medical cannabis has shown great promise in the treatment of PTSD – opioids, sedatives, sleeping pills, and anti-depressant medications often create more problems, like addiction, and don’t fully alleviate PTSD. Medical cannabis should immediately be decriminalized and made available to all vets suffering from PTSD, no matter where they reside.

@Bauhaus: I agree with that. We had a Colorado nonprofit come through Oregon and give it away, to veterans only. Cool idea, since we can’t buy it or sell it, but we can give it away. Supposedly there was a huge crowd in Eugene.

@Glücklich: The VA says they’ll do a lot but in reality doesn’t do jack shit, just like the silly wounded warriors project.

@McShane:
What wasn’t mentioned – alcohol abuse and alcoholism, on top of all the other problems they may have. Cannabis may help curb cravings for alcohol, too. Cool video.
Some fuckwit Republican from Maryland threw a monkey wrench into our DC voter approved legalization. Even with his meddling, we can grow, possess, and share up to an ounce. Not that I blaze, toke, vape, or anything myself, I just like to know these types of things for my out of town, *cough*, guests.

Huh. I’ll have to check into Wounded Warriors.
The VA’s done OK by my father who’s a Vietnam Vet but who doesn’t have PTSD or anything like that as far as I know.
