PHOTOS: The LGBT and allied community of New York City gathered in front of the Stonewall Inn in the West Village in a special marriage equality rally where Edie Windsor, Roberta Kaplan, Christine Quinn, Jerold Nadler, and Even Wolfson addressed the crowd following the landmark victory for equality. GLAAD spokesperson Wilson Cruz released a statement this afternoon, stating “At long last, the legal marriages of countless gay and lesbian couples will be afforded the same federal recognition and protections as any other. Today is a cornerstone for justice and equality — when our nation once again moved closer to recognizing and celebrating all LGBT Americans for their contributions to our great country.” There was no shortness of smiles or hugs in front of the Stonewall Inn, as friends and lovers assembled and posed for pictures and passed bottles of celebratory bubbly.

THIS IS TOTALLY FANTASTIC POLITICALLY. NOT SO SURE ON THE PERSONAL/LEGAL LEVEL, ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WHO RUSH INTO IT.
FOR ME IT’S WHAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR. NOT TO MARRY MY PARTNER OF 22 YEARS, BUT SO I CAN BECOME A GAY DIVORCE ATTORNEY. YAY!
