Queerty is better as a member
I AM FUCKING INMORAL.
The funny thing about the picture is that his face is actually that blurred in real life.
“Immoral” is the correct spelling of the word. Perhaps the author of this story needs to finish high school.
@southsam7: Picture #6 – the sign held by the guy spells it “inmoral.” Perhaps you should learn how to read.
@Gigi Gee: Picture #5 as well.
@southsam7: as is usual with Queerty articles, sloppy writing leaves it unclear that “immoral” is correct while what the article refers to is in fact the erroneous spelling “iNmoral” as printed on a demonstrator’s sign.
Poor guy, I wonder if his wife/daughter realized the typo and gave it to him on purpose. A woman definitely wrote that poster, but I’ll give benefit of the doubt that whoever wrote it does not have English as their primary language. Or maybe he’s the first homophobic male in known history to write in loopy letters with sweeping circles to dot his i’s.
She also made a devout and innocent relative the subject of ridicule nation-wide be it intentionally or by accident. Is that divine justice?? I think not.
Looks to me, like David Schwimmer in #5 and a young George Lopez in #6. Either way, they appear too dumb for a “smart” phone with the dictionary app! Why do we let these undereducated, ill-informed people vote?!
Re photo #5: Oh my dear boy, ware didd yoo goe two skool?
Uggh…. it’s so irritating to watch the video of evangelicals waving their hands in the air and praying/speaking in tongues…. what a freak-show.
I like the signs, how can you define what immoral is when you can’t spell it.
“Immoral” is such a subjective term.
For example, I find the combination of physical unattractiveness and severely limited intellectual capabilities of the anti-gay protesters immoral. A crime against nature, if you will.
However I’m not trying to snatch their Constitutionally granted rights to fairness and equality out from under them. I guess you could say that it’s because I have morals and values and just because I diagree with the perverse lifestyle choice of bigots, it doesn’t mean I think they deserve less rights than me. That would be, after all, psychotic.
@Aidan8: if they only knew how crazy they look
The same few statements are scribbled on every poster. No clever word play, quips, or rhymes. Catholics aren’t supposed to be this insipid, they’re acting like Jehova’s Witnesses, fuck! I’m guessing there’s 40% of a brain at work in this whole demonstration.
I’m bored to death of this parade of poop. The last line on the signs “is unnecessary” actually managed to piss me off. Why be this lazy and still show up? Write something biblical like “AN ABOMINATION”. Catholics are much worse than a fanatic because at least you can weaken a fanatic’s pride. Catholics just mope around immune to all forms of reason and ridicule, having surrendered to toil and drudgery. They can’t be taken down any further.
Go ahead and poop on our civil rights, because first world countries are stamping out the Pope’s political influence at a constant rate.
“Love Thy Neighbor” faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaart, yet the Catholics think:
-it’s not necessary to be granted access to another state’s ER if my partner ends up there while on business
-it’s not necessary to expect dependent status in health coverage should one of us lose our job
-it’s not necessary to expect my spousal rights to be recognized anywhere in this country
-it’s not necessary to worry when traveling internationally because many countries that recognize same-sex marriage DO NOT acknowledge California’s domestic partnership
but most importantly of all
-it’s not necessary to continue the charade of marriage as a religious institution when millions of people in this world have been wed outside of churches and with no Bible present.
@Aidan8: Probably some christian school where he learned that the dinosaurs died out in Noah’s flood
Well, the signs must be Spanglish since “immoral” is “inmoral” in Spanish.
So nobody noticed that ‘unnecessary’ is also misspelled on his little placard?
There’s no bad grammar there anyway. Just poor spelling.
A few points…
What I saw on the video clip is the antithesis of Christ’s teachings. So much hatred, so much bigotry. I believe he would not be found there.
Apparently these good Christians do not know their history or bible. Marriage was never created by God. The origins was a governmental sponsored institution to deal with women and children being the property of a man. It wasn’t until centuries after Christ that the church realized they wanted a part of the marriage game for control purposes. Even then marriage was limited to those who were real people, the nobility and royals.
So sad, those folks in protest think they own a word or concept.
Kudos for the young man and all others who are speaking out in defense of equal rights for all.
I found it interesting that many people had the same “inmoral” word on their signs. So, I looked it up and it is the Spanish translation of the English word “immoral.” I don’t think that the word was misspelled; rather the signs are just a mix of Spanish and English. People on either side shouldn’t be so quick to hate.
I love the boy who talks about his family. THIS is the very reason there should be equality in EVERY state! Why do heterosexuals think that their families are the ONLY families that matter? Listen to this boy. He is a lot smarter than “adults” that are ignorant and who have no idea about REAL families! It’s all about love and the people that are there for each other. NOT the sex of the parents!
@GeriHew: Nope, Geri, bad (poor) grammar too.
(One placard has unnecessary spelled properly while it is misspelled on the other.)
The message: “Same-sex marriage is inmoral [sic] and unnecessary.” The writer has predicated that morality and necessity have the same basis when they are not: morality is a judgment of actions and deeds while necessity is a judgment of requirement.
One anti-gay moron held a sign saying “Do not redifine marriage.” It’s redefine, hun.
Homophobes are never good spellers.
Ah! The story of Sodom and Gomorrah, where it’s ok to offer your daughters to be offered up to a crowed and be raped. Funny how they forget to mention this part of the story when they bring it up.
@The Real Mike in Asheville: Thanks for the necessary pedantry Mike.
I so stand corrected. Not.
Something strange with pictures #5 & 6, as noticed before both have the same spelling mistakes as has in #6 the lady back left , poor unthinking sheeple, can’t make up their own placards , have to allow someone else to do their thinking for them . The guy in #5 has a wedding band so it’s ok for him and his spouse , but not for gay couples – so first of all he can’t think for himself and secondly he’s prejudiced .Ho Hum another “back of the bus” moment.
Now I say this in all (un)christian humility I hope his cock shrivels up and drops off and his wife turns out to be a big ol’ lesbian
@GeriHew: Sorry again Geri, but here you miss understand the use of sarcasm. So.
Truly, cleaver requires actually being clever. While modifying pedantry with necessary is quite droll, and the passive-aggressive “Not” is sarcasm, it all fails because you are still in error regarding the proper grammar of the protest sign. Try again?
@The Real Mike in Asheville: Really. This is going nowhere.
There’s nothing “interesting” about anything being spouted by these christofascist freaks… I don’t care if their spelling can be justified because it might be people whose primary language is Spanish. Spanish, English, Dutch, French…. no matter the language, the christofascist bullshit rhetoric is disgusting. Period.
\What a fucking bunch of assholes and nutjobs though. All i saw was outright lies from the hater crowd. I felt like i was hearing that speech… segregation now..segregation forever!
Oh and looking at all the waving of the hand religious types I’d say it’s a pretty good guess that the catholic church is behind it.
