The golden days of New York City’s Meat Packing District, particularly its gay and fetish scenes, are remembered by photographer Efrain John Gonzalez, who has teamed with the Bureau of General Services – Queer Division (BGSQD) to present Images From a Different Path. Gonzalez, an internationally published photographer, is famed for seeking out real-life images to tell a story of people who take the forbidden and turn it into an empowering statement of their own.

The Bureau of General Services – Queer Division is a queer cultural center, bookstore, and event space hosted by Cage on the Lower East Side of New York City.  The Bureau seeks to excite and educate a self-confident, sex-positive and supportive queer community while hosting readings, performances, film screenings, book discussion groups, and workshops. The exhibit will be presented at tonight 7 p.m. Below are some images featured in the archive.
