There was something niggling at the back of my mind from the moment I first saw the front pic, and I've finally realised what it is – a passage from Terry Prachett's "Maskerade" where Greebo, Nanny Ogg's tomcat (who has eaten a vampire, killed an elk, and terrorises wolves and bears) is transformed into a human:
