Pop star Pink spoke out this week on rumors that she’s of the Sapphic variety.
While some stars would simply say, “No, I’m no gay,” the singer says she’s proud of the same-sex mix-up: “I’m proud people think I’m gay. Everyone has always thought I was gay because of the tattoos, the short hair, the attitude. But I don’t care. I love to challenge people’s preconceptions.”
She also took some time to speak out against the “annoying” fact that gay folks have restricted rights: “…It really annoys me that gay people aren’t allowed to get married in most parts of America. I’d go on a march for gay rights any time.”
I’m an old fart who doesn’t listen to a lot of music that came out after the late 80s, but Pink’s “Dear Mr. President” caught my attention a few years ago. She’s talented, whip-smart and a welcome young addition to the small universe of gay divas. And I mean diva in the best sense of the word, like Bette Midler and Cyndi Lauper.
Speaking of, who ARE the other upcoming divas?
