Gay marriage might pass in Washington, but no way will it pass in Maryland, a state with 30% african-americans will not approve of gay marriage.

ok, THIS line actually got a laugh out of me: “It reported 57% approved of the marijuana measure, as compared to 34% who just said no—and 9% who couldn’t find their car keys.”

      Good one :-)

@brent: My dear, you ascribe way to much power to a completely disenfranchised minority. Hell, I dare say the blacks are actually having a harder time of life in most circumstances than the gays. However, since most of them will not vote (either because of severe misinformation about voting rights or because they were blocked from voting by the party you are so proud to be a part of) it will come down to the white people making the real decision yet again just like they did in California. How can you blame 10% of the voting block for the votes of 75% of it?

@tdx3fan: I don not believe they can be stopped from voting if they want to. I would like to see one case of where a person will be kept from voting. I don’t agree they or anyone else is powerless when they can vote. As for the math in california they made up 6% of the electorate, but cast the big share of the vote around 70% for prop. 8 That’s why they have such power on this issue. In Maryland they make up 30%, a much larger figure. If they vote the same way then gay marriage will be rejected by a landslide.

@brent: Fortunately, the straggling minority is wising up/becoming more intelligent and informed day by day, not to make the same mistakes they did in the past. This is good news! Outside of that, when Prop 8 does fall (and it will!), DOMA will fall, and 1-2-3 lawsuits per state will eventually usher in SSarriage nationwide. You might want to prepare yourself for the new society!

@Dakotahgeo: Correction: SSarriage should read SSMarriage*
